I've updated my blog with some more viewer-friendly photos of "Spaceport Speeders", my landspeeder repair shop for Star Wars gaming. Enjoy! link |

That's nicely done
congratulations! Are the speeders just converted Star Wars toys? I'm out of the loop on those. |

The speeders in the repair shop photos are: a Galoob "Action Fleet" Gian Speeder (the white/blue one), a converted WotC Flash Speeder from their Star Wars Miniatures range this is green/blue one on the blocks), and a toy keyring (in the garage). |

Looks great! Thanks for sharing. How'd you get the guns off the side of the Gian Speeder? I've got one I want to convert as well. |

CRAP, How'd you do that so quick?!? You just posted yesterday that you "try" to whip something up. Freaking good work. |

The Gian Speeder is super simple to do. Just cut the side sponsons off with either a dremel tool or a razor saw. Once they are off, fill the holes there with sculpting putty. Once dry, just do a bit of filing to get them smooth with the sides, and you'll be ready for painting. I think the toy looks 100% better without the giant gun pods on the side. I later used the gun pods off the Gian Speeder as engines for another speeder. |

Thanks for the tips. I thought about that, but figured I'd just butcher the vehicle. I concur, it looks way better without the over-sized guns on the sides. Have you seen the Mos Eisly Police Department vehicles? Their paint scheme is quite nice too. They use the Gian also, in brown and tan. |

Mos Eisly Police Department? Haven't seen them. Post a link? |

Hmmm, can't seem to find the game pics right now, with Google, but here's more than you'll want to know about the Mos Eisley Police Department: mepd.net Quite frankly, I didn't even know they had one. The Gian vehicle looks very similar to yours, but it is painted dark brown, where yours is white, and a sand/yellow (golden color), where the blue is on yours. The perspex cockpit is left intact, and is painted black, from front to the rear deck. Mos Eisley PD badges are on the rear sides of the vehicle, and centered in the front. It looks really great. This vehicle was included in a very large Star Wars game that had a center table, and four arms extending out from the center, so people could access all of the terrain and buildings. I think there's a link in the message archives to the photos, so I'll see if I can find it. They also painted up some other variants of Luke's speeder to add to the terrain, e.g. a green one, suitably fixed up a bit. Minis used were the WotC SW figures. |

Here you go: picture The MIPD vehicle is just to the right of the largest, circular spaceship hangar, near the center of the photo, e.g. the brown blob. You can nose around the various pics, for closeups of some of the scenery here: link |
