Hi all

This is my latest dio, finished right on time!
It represents the 23rd Welch fusiliers during the Batlle of The Albuela.
Figures are a mix of 28mm Victrix and Perry plastics, with the according conversions done.

I really hope the owner is satisfied with the results, once he has it on hand.

And I also hope you guys enjoy it too.

Thanks for your support and for watching.

Saludetes.

Beautiful work! Your painting style is wonderful, the faces of the miniatures are simply amazing! How do you do it?

uruk hai11 Dec 2010 12:56 p.m. PST

Look like a much larger scale. Very good work. Who wouldn't be satisfied having these in their collection.

Quite awesome. Something you'd expect to see in a museum (& it should be in one too). Dean

Stunning as usual but the white diagonal on the Kings colour is wrong! Would love to see a tutorial on how you do the faces as i think you do them better than any other painter/artist i know of.

General Jumbo12 Dec 2010 12:48 p.m. PST

Such stunningly beautiful work, agreed. Yet mickthemagpie appears to be correct ….. the diagonal white on the flag should show its thicker portion against the lower end of the flagstaff, should it not? Please tell me we are both wrong?

Lord Hill12 Dec 2010 2:35 p.m. PST

They remind me of the models of Peninsular soldiers at the the National Army Museum in Chelsea which are…er…lifesize!

Gallowglass12 Dec 2010 3:38 p.m. PST

Classy.

ONIRIA113 Dec 2010 1:40 a.m. PST

Hi all

Thanks a lot for your kind and encouraging comments.
Regarding the flag, It's hand painted over a paper one, so if you guys are right maybe the original pattern is wrong.
Owner hasn't complaint so…well leave it as an artistic lycense (or mistake ;o))

It is absolutely stunning work!

I'd never had notced the King's Colour issue if it hadn't been pointed out. If it helps, the issue here is that three saltires are upside-down and one (the upper saltire at the Fly) is painted correctly.

The wide white fimbriations should be uppermost at the Hoist and lowermost at the Fly. Examples (of a more modern design) here: armylists.org.uk/badges.htm

This is an example of a King's colour painted wholly upside-down: link

However, mistakes did happen. There is a surviving King's Colour of the KGL that is upside-down (the photograph can be found on page 14 of the Osprey MAA on the Hanoverian Army of the Napoleonic Wars).

Absolutely amazing work. I'm thrilled if I can just get an even primer coat on my figures. Oh to be blessed with such talent…..

Such skill, and who can be "sniffy" about plastic versus metal when they see what you have achieved? Magnificent!

WOW!!!! That is incredible….

cavcrazy29 Dec 2010 10:47 a.m. PST

The figures look as though they are about to move, very nice work.

Luke Warm29 Dec 2010 11:53 a.m. PST

A very nice bit of modeling work – which is what plastics are for – modeling – not for Collectors or Gamers who are "sniffy" about such things ;-)
