Simply that, your favorite 10 spaceships with links if possible so we can all share :)

Rod Langway29 Nov 2010 9:03 p.m. PST

My favorite by far is the Roger Young from Starship Troopers, something about this ship just screams "Real Hard Science Fiction", and the design is a beaut.

Omega Class Destroyer and many other of the Earth Force designs from B5:

Beyond that, most designs I have seen over the years have not done much for me personally. Like the aesthetics of both Galactica's (and the new Pegasus). Super Star Destroyer is always kewl I guess. Never been a fan of any of the Star Trek designs with the possible exception of the Bird of Prey.

Many interesting designs over the years in various miniature lines and PC games. Loved the Decados ships from Noble Armada:

Lots more, but just these off the top of my head…..

Always was partial to the Eagle from Space 1999 -- something about it looking like a sleeked back version of the Lunar Lander just struck a chord with my Apollo-filled upbringing.

Fireball XL-5, the first spaceship observed by my then young eyes.

Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut29 Nov 2010 9:28 p.m. PST

I am partial to the classic Klingon Cruiser, Klingon Bird Of Prey, Millenium Falcon, Andromeda from "Space Battleship Yamato," Eagle from "Space 1999," and the Lectroid mothership from "Buckaroo Banzai." I am sure I could come up with another four if I thought a while longer lol!

28mmMan29 Nov 2010 9:32 p.m. PST

Not sure of 1-10 status but off the cuff and my list is more emotional attachment than design perfection :)

Enterprise…as in Star Trek, as a whole not one version over the other per say link

Serenity picture

Klingon Bird of Prey…Star Trek, the newer ones are a bit more fun link

CR-90…Star Wars picture picture This is high on my list, makes me think of Traveller games past :)

Eagle link

And I am having a hard time with the rest…too many good choices :(

10 is too many or me to think about right now- but I'm glad someone mentioned the Lectroid mothership! That one would be in my list, too.

Not a spaceship, but I also like the Recognizers from Tron (new or old.)

Scutatus29 Nov 2010 10:52 p.m. PST

Parzival, I'm going to be a complete and utter geek here and remind you that the 1701-A was not launched until the end of Star Trek IV. In the first three movies it was simply the Enterprise 1701 REFIT (never mind that it was essentially a complete rebuild). ;)

It's a common mistake – one made even by Scotty himself in "Relics" !

But I agree, it's a beautiful design. Always reminds me of a swan for some reason.

Guess my number one choice is obvious. :)

GarrisonMiniatures29 Nov 2010 11:49 p.m. PST

Lexa 'I am a warship' Doig.

auton130 Nov 2010 1:43 a.m. PST

Most of the ones I would have chosen have already been listed, but I'll add the ship from Lexx for something totally different

For the nostalgia freaks:

You have to admit there is a particualar charm for the wire, cigar smoke and that vibrating noise in the background.

28mmMan30 Nov 2010 8:48 a.m. PST

I do have a soft spot for this little gem link picture

parrskool30 Nov 2010 9:06 a.m. PST

Another vote for the Red Dwarf, Starbug.

Pictors Studio30 Nov 2010 9:13 a.m. PST

I'm not a huge fan of space ships really, but I know that the Star Wars ones were more appealing to me than any others I've seen on tv or in movies.

But if I had to have a space ship, I'd choose the TARDIS.

Goober30 Nov 2010 9:15 a.m. PST

I believe it was actually the Valley Forge in Silent Running.

My 10, in no order,

Gunstar
Millennium Falcon
Eagle
Akira Class from Star Trek
X-Wing Fighter
Liberator
Omega Class Destroyer
Leonov
Colonial Viper (Mk 2)
Space Cowboy ship from Battle Beyond The Stars

The Pan Am Clipper from 2001 has always been a favorite of mine.

Angel Barracks30 Nov 2010 10:11 a.m. PST

But if I had to have a space ship, I'd choose the TARDIS.

Right on Brother!

lugal hdan30 Nov 2010 11:01 a.m. PST

In no particular order, and leaving out Fighters (almost all of which are cool, and would dominate the list) but including shuttles and other "small craft":

* NCC 1701A Enterprise (From the movies) (I love most of the other variants too, but this one is my favorite.)
* Klingon D7
* Nostromo, if only because it's so hard to figure out what the dang thing looks like in the film :)
* Icarus from Planet of the Apes
* Space:1999 Eagle
* Jupiter 2 from Lost in Space (yes it's cheezy, but it's a fun saucer design)
* Space Battleship Yamato, because what's not cool about battleships in space?
* Millenium Falcon, the fodder for many youthful dreams.
* Star Wars' "Tantive IV" Corellian Corvette, just a cool lookin' ship.
* Empress Nichole Far Trader (oops, not actually in TV/Movies)

Delta Vee30 Nov 2010 11:33 a.m. PST

liberator from blakes 7

Others' lists are catching most, though not all of what would be my top ten. I'll work on it a bit, but as for what lived in my youth…

Doug

PS Truth be told, both Buster Crabbe's electrically buzzing flatirons, and Captain Midnight's (I knew him as Jet Jackson) sleek beauty crowded my dreams as well…
