A few weeks ago I committed to trying to start building out some comparison pictures of the various 15mm vehicles and machines on the market, but work and family issues slowed down my progress. This weekend I have been working on this and got a fair number of pictures taken, edited and loaded to my Sky Drive. I have not yet gotten to labeling the various items or adding all the categories and groupings I plan to have, but this is a good start. The grid in all the pictures is 1 cm square.

Hopefully this provides some of you a reference to begin using while I continue to work on this project. Yes, I realize that it would be better if you knew what all the items pictured are, but it's going to take me a little while to get everything labeled.

Thanks,

Jeff

(P.S. The Alien with the 2 swords and rifle is from Micropanzer's Alien Horde. They are nice minis I need to get a review posted for them very soon. I also have a few of Highlander Studio's Space Bugs painted by Battle Works Studio in the picture as well as the new Highlander Zombie hunters and THW Carolee.)

Here is the link. It's a very large piece of metal (I have three of them).

Jeff, quick question about a couple of the veh's. Sorry if I missed the answer on your page.

First, who makes the model on the far left in this one:

And how about the second from left here, the tan one?

I like both and cant remember if Ive seen them before. Sorry to be a pain!

JRacel28 Nov 2010 6:43 a.m. PST

Kenshin,

First, you are not a pain and since I have not gotten to labels yet, I expected some questions.

Unfortunately in both cases, these were made by DLD Productions which has been on hiatus for many years now. The APC is called a Komodo and the MBT is a Bengal. They are very nice kits if you can find them.

Thanks for the pics, Jeff. I especially appreciate the one with the 2 grav/hover Combat Wombat tanks in the same shot. I have the mediums and wondered how the heavy grav sized up. Now I know and I can place my order today.

JRacel28 Nov 2010 7:52 a.m. PST

Glad to help Luckyjoe. If there is something specific you need to see, let me know and I will see if I can accommodate it with what I own.

Just realized I did not include any of the Critical Mass Games Protolene Battlesuits in the Mecha pictures. I need to correct that and add some.

Jeff

I added more pictures for Dropships (Rebel and Khurasan) as well as the beginnings of sections by manufacturer (added Khurasan, Old Crow and Critical Mass). Now I need to go do yard work and get some lunch. I might get back to this later tonight.

Looks good -- interesting view of the various kits you've collected.

interesting view of the various kits you've collected.

I realize I a missing the sides of the vehicles, but doing enough repositioning to get those as well as a feel for size takes far too long. I have a lot more stuff not pictured yet, but I am having to build some of the vehicles (or at least get them cleaned and assembled with blue stuff for the pictures), so it is forcing me to work on the long neglected stock piles of minis. Good that I am making some progress. Not so good that my wife has a much better understanding of how much stuff is hidden away in the basement.

I am waiting on a section of Walkers for a certain "Dictator" to be released . . . . . .

A certain much-overdue Dictator, that is. :)

khurasanminiatures28 Nov 2010 12:14 p.m. PST

Wait, I just said it was interesting to see the comparison of kits you've collected. Did that come out like a criticism of camera angles? wink

JRacel28 Nov 2010 12:23 p.m. PST

Did that come out like a criticism of camera angles?

No, it's just me picking on myself since part of me wants to do side shots and the rational part of me keeps saying it would take forever. I just read my own issue into your comment. No worries Jon!

Still waiting on the Walkers section though . . . .

Hello Jeff

I saw a 15mm Blade and an Alice in there.

Can you link me to that company please?

Thanks

Joseph

JRacel28 Nov 2010 2:19 p.m. PST

Battle Miniatures Emporium,

Those minis are apparently not currently available. The ones I have may have been masters, but not sure. I would suggest contacting Rod Campbell of Highlander Studios about the minis. link

Great stuff mate!

Who makes which dropship??

JRacel28 Nov 2010 5:08 p.m. PST

McWong73 – Who makes which dropship??

The Big one is the very nice kit from Khurasan. It has landing gear and other parts not in my picture. It's a little pricey, but a very nice piece you don't need multiples of in most cases. There are more pictures under the Khurasan folder with minis for scale.

The other two are from Rebel with one being a Dropship and the other a Gunship.

Dang, had a feeling Jeff. Thank for the intel anyway!

Maybe we can convine Combat Wombat to do something similar, or better yet, aquire the molds! (I'll chip in!)

;-)

JRacel29 Nov 2010 4:06 a.m. PST

aquire the molds!

I seem to recall others talking about this in the past, but seems no one has yet been able to pull it off.

Sorry for the tease. I guess I should reconsider showing miniatures that are no longer available in the future. Seems kind of mean in retrospect, especially when they are such nice pieces.

Great Stuff, Jeff. Keep it up.

Very useful comparison; also gives you some idea of the heft of each for postage purposes. I see you have an early release of Rebel Minis' dune buggy!

JRacel30 Nov 2010 8:33 a.m. PST

Very very early actually since that one has been painted for months. :)

Glad you guys are finding this useful. I will try and get some more up this week/weekend as well as start the labeling process. I also expect to get some more pages by company up to include Rebel and Combat Wombat. I also have to remeber to get a review done for the very nice Micropanzer Aliens . . . . . too much to do and absolutely no time to do any of it.

Hi Jeff
Those are really handy.
One quick question, the Heavy gears are they the current 12mm scale or the older 15mm scale?

Cheers

Jerry

JRacel10 Dec 2010 7:43 a.m. PST

Sorry Jerry, I just saw this. Actually, I have a mix of the new smaller gears and the old 1/87 scale gears. The really big ones are the old type and the smaller ones abotu the size of a 28mm mini are the newer scale. I really like the 1/87 scale ones for 15mm mecha since the new scale (1/144?) is normally too small to have a person inside, but the light gears make great combat robots. Eventually I will get some labels up on these.

Jeff
