I was searching on the Michael's craft store site for something else, and this popped up: link Naturally, I thought— "Hey, that could be a cool SF/Fantasy terrain bit." So I thought I'd mention it here, in case anybody found it an inspiring idea. I'm thinking tiered landing pad, transport levels, even Duck Dodger's elevator platforms . I suppose if you look around you can find similar items from various baking or craft sources. Anybody ever used anything like this? |

Reminds me of a three tier chess game in a John carter of Mars book with real people as the figures/fighters. |

Barsoomian Chess is Jetan. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jetan If Burroughs mentioned multi-board Jetan, he didn't go into details. That said, the ulsio changed its number of limbs at least once, so Burroughs may well have tossed off more than one game as "Martian Chess". Three-board Chess, or Tri-D Chess, is from Star Trek and a few other places. |

Yeah, my first thought was "Oh, a really fancy Federation 3d Chess board!" |

I immidiately thought Wookie or Ewok village as well. Though it would also work nicely for a pulp scifi landing pad or Hi-tech alien terrain. Price on that thing? Couldn't find it on the site. -Eli |

I have some of those two piece cheap champagne "glasses" theat hace a sort of spiral ribbing o nthem that would look cool on top of these. A few plastic easter egg halves to some accenting, a couple of doors and poof! Could make for good Star Wars terrain in a non-wookiee context. -Eli |

Does look like it belongs on a 1950's Sci-Fi book cover. |

I thought exactly the same thing as AWuuu, I'll probably buy a few for that very purpose. |

Great great great! I get weekly offers including a regular bump towards cake making supplies, usually 40-50% off. A great find. We should have a terrain contest using one of these as a central build item. I would be in for sure. |

If you can find matching, clear domes for them, they would make great 6mm skyscrapers too. |

$60 USD at my local store, but a bit less if you have a coupon. Sadly, they 40% off ones are MIA, and appear to have been replaced with 30% off ones. I'm holding out for a 50% off one

They look to be somewhere between $40 USD and $60 USD or so online. Some other cake stand bitz (pillars, most obviously) might be usefull as well. |

Wow, that's pricier than I would have thought, looking at the elements. I guess the sturdiness to hold up a cake bears a price tag. |
