First message

I have been building my 15 mm AWI armies. Mostly using Old Glory and Mini Figs. Neither company has Hessian/German musketeers. Should I use 7yr war Germans? any suggestions?

Thanks

I've used the OG SYW Prussian grenadiers/musketeers/fusiliers for the German AWI contingents, and they are ok, as are the jaegers. The only negative is that the grenadiers have officers in mitres, instead of tricornes (which is not just wrong for the AWI, but for their original purpose as well).

I don't know about Minifigs, as I don't have them.

Essex AWI are quite good though, and I seem to recall Frei Korps (not sure who owns them now) were, too. Lancashire Games might also be worth a look, although their "15s" are very big (forget 18mm, these guys are big enough to buy alcohol) and not all the range was done by the same guy by the looks of things. There's also a couple of US producers (Musket and Jeff Valent?).

All in all, a fair bit of choice out there if you look.

Peter Pig seem to be in the process of getting their first Hessians ready;

Ooh, yes – forgot about them (sorry, Martin).

Saw the samples on their stand at Reading on Sunday, too. Looking good.

Old Glory does have hessians! They have for over a decade. I have had them in stock at my stores for a long time.

They are listed under RBO 20 (Musk), RBO 21 (Fus/Gren) and RBO22 Arty.

Yes Essex AWI are good and QRF now own Frei Korps.

Minifigs Prussian grenadier officers are in tri-corns. They have standard bearers.

Rudy,

I have a feeling they are the same packs/figures as the SYW Prussians.

Musket Miniatures makes a nice range that matches well with minifig.

I have both Minifigs 7YW Germans and Essex German musketeers (though I haven't gotten around to painting either, yet). The Minifigs come in an advancing with level muskets pose. (I mention this as I don't believe there are pics on their site).

Off-topic:

Supercilius Maximus, do you have pics of your minis online? I always enjoy reading your posts in this forum, and it would be great to at some point see your handiwork, too.

SM, I would not doubt it.

At that scale, 15mm Prussians will do fine for Hessians.

Adam,

No I don't and unfortunately I'm not great with a camera, so not any time soon. I (ie my wife, who's pretty good at photography) may get around to it in the New Year….perhaps.
