Today I posted an in-depth review of a variety of Mech models for BattleTech from Iron Wind Metals…

Great Review. I recently dug out my old Ral-Partha-era BTech models and it's interesting to see how they stack up against the new generation of IWM models.

You really are liking BT, no? :-)

Ordinarybass,

A variety of the sculpts from Iron Wind Metals are some of the old Ral Partha ones, so chances are some of the ones you have are still in production.

Beowulf,

Yeah BattleTech is a lot of fun. I've been a fan of the subject matter for 25 years. I cut my teeth on the PC/console games, then Wizkids MechWarrior, but the game of BattleTech used to intimidate me based on the tons of rulebooks, and complexity. I finally put the first impressions of BattleTech behind me to dig in and I was surprised to learn it's not as hard as I thought.

I've always enjoyed the universe and all, I just never took the time to learn the real game until now. I even owned the rulebooks numerous times over the past 25 years, but I never could find anyone else to play it with back then. Everyone was into 40k and other games instead.

Saw that you are in PA WargameGuru. Are you anywhere near the Lehigh Valley? Always open to new players.

If you are PA, you should come to the HMGS-E cons there. We (our group from here in Richmond,VA and some local guys)have a strong BT presence at all of them. Big games and demos most days of the con.
Also many of the old Ral Partha sculpts have been re-released by IWM.

I'm outside of Pittsburgh, PA near Ohio/WV border. I don't think that's near Lehigh Valley.

Nope. Lehigh Valley is on the other side of the state, next to NJ…

Damon.
