I want, I want, I want, I want, I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want, and I want do not all count as separate reasons. |

I think Geoff should sculpt UK's want list in 15mm. Even in that scale I think it would be ~ 2-3kms in length |

"I want. I want, and I want do not all count as separate reasons." Lol, that is true! Ok, I basically want them because I appreciate the Poles entire military history and tradition, and because they went from being the laughing stock of the Warsaw Pact to being one of the most professional militaries in the world in a short time. Plus their current troops just look damn cool. Especially Grom (which I dont expect to see in 15mm, though they could probably be culled from US SWAT minis). Whether Geoff gets to them first, or Eureka, or anyone else I don't care. Just think they would be cool minis. |

The problem with most forces these days, is that they look essentially the same in 15mm. There are minor style differences in head protection, but essentially the kevlar-style helmet, usually with goggles, fairly generic BDUs and some form of tactical webbing that is pretty much modular these days, so individual soldiers mix and match to personal preference makes for very similar looking troops. The two main differences are weapons (although there are essentially two 'lines', the AK/RPK/RPG range and the M4/Minimi/FN MAG route) and camo pattern
So, I could probably produce a bag of, say, modern Russians, then rebag them as modern Poles, Ukrainians, Uzbeks and about 30 other different nations, and they would all look the same bar a different choice of paint scheme. |

Excellent!
When do we start production!? ;-) |

Poland is a long-standing military partner with Illinois. I hope someday to participate in an exchange mission. |
GeoffQRF | 09 Nov 2010 3:34 a.m. PST |
I do have them on the schedule, after the French and Chinese. Unfortunately we are so busy with mail order Chas hasn't had time to cast the weapons for me

Arrigo | 09 Nov 2010 6:46 a.m. PST |
actually the poles seems AKM+SAW
|
GeoffQRF | 09 Nov 2010 8:10 a.m. PST |
Yep, strange mix of eastern and western: link So (other than the paint scheme) how do you tell a Polish soldier from a 'regular with AK'? I have British, US and soon French, all in helmets, all armed with M249/Minimi/SAW

OK easy fix in 20mm write Mat at elhiem ask him to send seperate soviet weapons when you buy his Modern marine packs and convert those. It would be delicate work but in time Matt might even put some figures out if you sent hime all the pics

I know you love 20mm, but thuis is a thread on 15mm!!!! Also beacuse we run the risk to have Uuesugi-san not only complaining about lack of 15mm figures, but also of 20mm for the bane of 20mm sculptors
now if someone would finally decide to create a charitable organization to support the production of lesser known 15mm, 20mm and 28mm forces it would be nice
look it would be cheaper than spending billion in stealth technology that rarely works for example, or keeping in the sky crappy old tornado F3! |

The two main differences are weapons (although there are essentially two 'lines', the AK/RPK/RPG range and the M4/Minimi/FN MAG route) and camo pattern
probably 3 lines: US kevlar helmet w/ M4series, US helmet w/ AK, and russian helmet w/ AK. |

Its a pity the Poles never released the Jantar Bullpup rifle, they developed. Looked cool to me. |
Arrigo | 09 Nov 2010 11:42 a.m. PST |
look from an assault rifle coolnessis the last thing you want
remind me of a story on the israeli Tavor rifle, the instruction manual was ticker than the code of law. |
