Which set of fantasy football rules are your favorite?

Please mention both title and publisher.

tobermoray04 Nov 2010 12:40 p.m. PST

American football, or The-game-the-rest-of-the-world-plays football?

Either way, apart from Bloodbowl are there any fantasy football games?

Well, there's also Elfball.

I've been enjoying Elfball more for some time now.
They are published by Impact Miniatures and are free to download.

BLOOD BOWL. GW. Could it be anything else?

Ivan DBA04 Nov 2010 5:26 p.m. PST

Even if some other set of rules is marginally better in theory, Bloodbowl should be your choice because it is so popular.

Also Lurpa (AKA Reptiliads Lurpa) from RAFM

Even if some other set of rules is marginally better in theory, Bloodbowl should be your choice because it is so popular.

Does that mean the Big Mac is your favorite hamburger? grin

I am only familiar with Bloodbowl.

Blood Bowl is unique in that it is the most popular and the best fantasy football game.

Sort of like Coke.

Blood Bowl, 2nd Ed was the last one I played some 20 years ago and it was a hoot!!!

I am thinking of reviving the game to play with the family, think it would be fun.

Well, you can download both Elfball (Impact Miniatures, kinda more like rugby) and BloodBowl (competition rules from GW specialist games, kinda more like football). Both are free. Elfball, while not as indepth a rule system for leagues (but hopefully soon to change), is probably easier to learn. I personally like both, but BloodBowl is currently the only game in town (no pun intended), but I plan to try and get the locals into elfball, for some added variety.

Speaking of fantasy football look at this all star player for the team Dr. Frankenstein purchased, the Frankfurt Flayers! coolminiornot.com/263664

Having written the rules for Elfball and 75% of Blood Bowl … I have a strong love for both games.

Blood Bowl I enjoy playing in a competitive environment like at a tournament with strangers.

Elfball I prefer if I want to actually have fun. It plays faster and is more involved and my kids can easily understand the rules.

So if I want to have fun and relax Elfball is better. If I want to curse at dice and be highly competitive I think Blood Bowl is better.

(this is not to say that Elfball is not strategic … it is … there are tournaments regularly in the UK for it with prizes). Its more that I don't find Blood Bowl fun … just competitive.
