I've got two big armies in 15mm with hardly any artillery-what am I thinking?

I've got Minifigs ACW Napoleons and Egyptian colonial Krupps-are these OK?

I imagine Old Glory would be good.

I had Essex and Rank, Outpost Wargames Service, & File Artillery for 15-mm FPW. Both their French, Bavarian, and Prussian artillery are fine. I guess Old Glory would be good, too.

Not on the Buy Immediately list, but the Minifig Prussian siege gun is nice to have when you besiege Paris.

An ACW "Napoleon" is quite visually different from the Canon de 4 and Canon de 12 of the La Hitte system that the French employed in 1870. If you want to do these right, you're going to have to pore over some photos, and then decide what tubes you want to "kitbash" with what carriages.

Likewise, the 8cm and 9cm Krupp guns used by the Egyptians are models that the Prussians themselves used to replace the weapons from the FPW. Rank and File (from Old Glory 15s) generally has the most suitable carriages and tubes for the Prussian guns, but they only have once choice, rather than the two calibers fielded. I'm not keen on the Rank and File wheels (or most anybody's).

Minifigs has artillery in their FPW line.

I've got some of the Minifigs artillery. The French gun seems very small and the Prussian is very wide also I think the crews are a bit odd.
I think OG looks like the way forward.

I'd be suprised if LKM didn't have any. Irregular should too

I have OG15s FPW artillery. I have QRF's (former Freikorps 15s). I have Irregular's.

"Franco-Prussian French 8 lbr Gun". Seriously.

And I have Minifigs. If I had thought any were worth recommending, I would have done so.

So look again at what I said above. I am very particular when it comes to ordnance, and I've been down this road once, a long time ago. It was a very frustrating quest. It is a pity that so few manufacturers have done even the lick of research necessary to know what the weapons were properly called, but they haven't. There it is.

Mine have got mainly Minifigs guns – despite their faults.

Definitely Rank & File and Minifig.

"Franco-Prussian French 8 lbr Gun. Seriously."

The French did have a La Hitte 4-pounder guns however the actual weight of shot 8.8 lb

I'm not familiar with RnF. Any pictures of FPW figures? I've searched the web with no luck.

Thanks

The French did have a canon de 8 La Hitte mle 1839/69. Basically an old 8 pdr mle 1839 which was rifled from 1869 and was in the process of being rolled out.

I have Old Glory and Friekorps 15 both are good but I think I prefer OG. ACW Napoleons will work for the French.
