Heroscape: Road to the Forgotten Forest

It's a terrain expansion for Heroscape, but will non-Heroscape gamers be attracted by the trees?

Or why did you choose yours?

Some seem to be for amusment
Others may be descriptive
Delibertately controversial?

My parents chose mine for me

Lentulus30 Oct 2010 11:54 a.m. PST

My first wargaming nickname, Lentulus is referred to in Charge! as well as being the name of a real Austrian and Prussian General.

It's also a consistent label that I use on all wargames-related forums.

Battle Works Studios30 Oct 2010 12:25 p.m. PST

Business account, in this case – as I'm sure most have noticed. :)

The Beast Rampant30 Oct 2010 12:55 p.m. PST

It was late. I'd just decided to stop lurking. I'd just watched (Lynch's) Dune.

I'd change it, but I'd have to go down to the courthouse, and throw away all my checks and business cards.

Steve Hazuka30 Oct 2010 1:40 p.m. PST

I like pie.

galvinm30 Oct 2010 1:43 p.m. PST

Real name.

Cpt Arexu30 Oct 2010 2:24 p.m. PST

Throatwarbler Manrove was too long.

John the OFM30 Oct 2010 2:26 p.m. PST

It's short for Old Fart Meister, or Old Fahrtmeister.

Long story. Available for anyone with way too much time on their hands to research on TMP.

Warbeads30 Oct 2010 3:24 p.m. PST

Warbeads. War Games. Bead jewelry.

Gracias,

Glenn

Arteis30 Oct 2010 3:33 p.m. PST

Phonetic pronunciation of the initials R T S from my real first names.

I also like to think it reflects my love of the aesthetics of wargaming (ie 'arty').

Captain Apathy30 Oct 2010 4:01 p.m. PST

honestly… who really cares?

Karellian Knight30 Oct 2010 4:28 p.m. PST

all the short versions were taken.

sneakgun30 Oct 2010 5:51 p.m. PST

Sneakgun, name for a Derringer, when I joined I was primarily interested in Old West gaming.

Moonbeast30 Oct 2010 5:51 p.m. PST

I work 3rd shift. I love Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos. I'm pale and sunburn easily, seemed like a fit.:)

Toaster30 Oct 2010 6:17 p.m. PST

Nickname given to me in the military, first thing I got to repair when I worked in the electrical bay was a toaster from a P3 Orion, but the aircrew had set the job priority to AOG (Aircraft on Ground) which meant it was needed yesterday because it was stopping an aircraft from flying. An army may march on its stomach but we thought the aircrew were taking things a little far.

zippyfusenet30 Oct 2010 8:07 p.m. PST

I'm a fan of the tapered sage, Zippy the Pinhead. My email address is zippy-at-fuse-dot-net.

The Monstrous Jake30 Oct 2010 8:41 p.m. PST

The Monstrous Jake is the main character in a couple of books I've been writing. My real name is but a click away.

Dropzonetoe Fezian30 Oct 2010 8:48 p.m. PST

Highschool nickname was Toe… I ran a wargaming website called The Dropzone

SNTG Wolf30 Oct 2010 9:09 p.m. PST

Mine's from being the owner of Scorpion's Nest Tactical Gaming (SNTG) and "Wolf" is a nickname I acquired over 20 years ago.

:?)

quidveritas30 Oct 2010 9:59 p.m. PST

I needed a pseudonym that no one would ever pick and one that I could remember. I wasn't going to be mike239482.

"Quid est Veritas" means roughly 'what is the truth?'

quidveritas is nonsense but is something that I would never have to fight over.

Bunkermeister Supporting Member of TMP30 Oct 2010 11:35 p.m. PST

COL Jim started calling me Bunkermeister. Sort of like Dungeon Master except for WWII, and since my German collection is rather large, it fits.

Norman D Landings31 Oct 2010 4:30 a.m. PST

Came from a nonsense game played during a quiet nightshift: "What would your alias be if you were on the run?"

Suggestions included Nelson Column, Sidney Harberbridge, Nile Delta, & Rusty Panhandle.

I settled on Norman D. Landings, so it was on the tip of my tongue when I got home & found that Wargames Directory (the original version) had begun requiring registration & log-in.

Tried to keep the same name elsewhere, too. There's an NDL on facebook, but it's not me.

Buff Orpington31 Oct 2010 8:39 a.m. PST

The profile wouldn't accept "Buff" Orpington, Gentleman Adventurer.
One day I may acquire some Orpingtons for my small flock but they'll have to be bantams, full size Orpingtons are huge.

Without mad monkey, we'd still be swinging from trees.

Feet up now31 Oct 2010 1:28 p.m. PST

Before Joining TMP I used to visit for many years but only after getting the kids to bed and doing odd jobs for her indoors.
I used to say I am going to put my feet up now and go online so the name just sprung to mind while getting finally registered.

Andrew May131 Oct 2010 3:08 p.m. PST

I got this name because i was a space cadet, and was very good at it…

Derek H31 Oct 2010 3:22 p.m. PST

My first name's Derek and my second name begins with an H

I preferred Derek the Uber Grogranard, but nobody understood the origin of the name and kept telling me I'd spelt grognard incorrectly.

Which I hadn't.

Flat Beer and Cold Pizza31 Oct 2010 3:59 p.m. PST

I only play Pachinko when I'm in Monte Carlo, where the dress codes are more stringent.

Sane Max01 Nov 2010 2:29 a.m. PST

I choose mine purely on whimsy. I was Sane Max 'cos Mad Max was taken, and I chose Mad Max 'cos there was 'max' in my email address. I was Riddley Walker because I loved that book. This name seemed unique. (a google search shows me I am wrong)

Pat

richarDISNEY01 Nov 2010 7:55 a.m. PST

Richard is my first name, and the UPPERCASE is my likes (but it has to start with the last letter of my first name).

I was richarDMB, as I liked The Dave Matthews Band (and it was my log name for in-numerous DMB sites).

But I dig Disney more… LOTS more.

Humm… Maybe I should go my richardBEER… laugh
beer

Wolverine01 Nov 2010 11:03 a.m. PST

I'm a Custer fan and since his Michigan brigade in the ACW was called the "Wolverines" I just thought I'd use it. Conversely, I am not from Michigan myself, nor do I have any interest in the comic book character of the same name.

highlandcatfrog01 Nov 2010 12:04 p.m. PST

My nickname is Frog, given to me by a wargamer when I first got into the hobby 30-odd years ago.

When I signed up for ebay I tried every spelling I could think of for Frog but they were all taken. I've got lots of cats, and for some reason the cartoon "Catdog" popped to mind, so I tried catfrog. Thought I was being uniquely clever, but it was already taken.

Ancestors were Highlanders, so I tried highlandcatfrog and voila!

So when I signed up for TMP and found that Frog was taken I decided to save some steps and just went straight to highlandcatfrog here too.

You do realize that its pronounced Throat Warbler Mangrove though … grin

SultanSevy01 Nov 2010 6:39 p.m. PST

My nickname is Sevy and I'm the organizer of a small wargaming group called the Sultans of Severnia. Put them together and you have SultanSevy.

6milPhil03 Nov 2010 6:55 p.m. PST

Blog Handle, but was originally Fuzzy-Wuzzy due to an interest in British Colonial warfare in the late 19th century.
