Hello,

I posted a few pictures of a recently painted Norse Irish army for DBA in 15mm on my blog at

Apologies for the picture quality, as i still have to get to grips with miniature photography (with a poor camera too).

Looking better good, I have one suggestion, give those bad boy in chain mail a light wash of black ink. It should bring out more of the detail.

Nice figures, although I have to say I am not always too convinced by Essex's choice of figures in their army packs.

I was thinking that too.

Thanks. I can't generalize as i haven't dealt with too many packs, but yes their choice for the bonnachts isn't very good for the book 3 list. I have a bunch of kerns with spears and shields supposed to be Ps(S) which i might end up basing as alternative Ax to better fit earlier battles.

In regards to the chainmail, it doesn't show due to the camera flash but i actually used a brown wash on the mail, though it didn't darken enough the creases to my taste either. I'll give a go at inking these, but for other minis i think i'll go back to painting the mail in black and brushing the metal.

Cafard you might not be interested but QRF have some excellent figures for bonnachts. The sizes are similar to Essex too.

Very nice indeed, i might grab a couple of their axemen. The early command pack looks great for early invasions too.
