What a grand weekend. Thanks for the photos with captions. I have seen something similar to "How to play the game pose", is that not a Lawn Bowling technique? Cheers, Robert |

Why "a fitting wake and end to WAB as we know it"? Because someone's favorite skirmisher-heavy army got nerfed in WAB2? :) |

Absolutely outstanding models and pictures. Must have been great fun. I bought a second-hand copy of the 'El Cid' WAB book whilst under duress at our wargames club for £2, and now I've read it I've got to 'do' this period. Bloomin' GW and their inspiring resource material

El Cid WAB is a good supplement played a few good games myself. One thng is many players think the moors are going to be a push over how wrong they are. some pics of our El Cid game last year link |

I can't help myself, I keep going back to look at that King Alfonso figure, a great paint job on a Crusader mini, that been converted some what, just loaded with character and riding one of the old Crusader plow horses. It was painted by my buddy "The Goat Boy", man that is really sweet! |

@TGaffney Not sure when you picked up on WAB but the great thing about it was the sense of community. And it showed in the development of the rules and supplements. Definitely gamer and fan led. One day events and win-win-win. The fans, the event organisers and Warhammer Historical all won out. And lets not even mention the poor traders! Now the balance has altered and heavens only knows when the WAB corpus of books like the Successors, HYW one, Divine Wind and so on will be completed. The rumours are they will release an Armies of Antiquity army list book which definitely sounds a retro step! My best estimate is the WAB community has shrunk to about a third – this is consistent with attendance at events and so on. At Colours there was only 6 entries in the WAB Medieval tourney before there was 18. WAB RIP |

"Goat Boy" reporting in :O) Thanks for the compliment- always appreciated. As for WAB, well I have to agree with WSS UK Editor. From my perspective the sense of community was what drove the whole thing along. We've had some great times over the years at WHW, GBHQ and a whole host of other venues, too many to mention. If this was to no longer be
.. well Salad Days
. I guess that we've just got to hope that Forgeworld do the honourable thing, which I must admit, at best, seems unlikely. Fingers crossed chaps! Darrell. High Quality, Reliable, Professional Painting Service: darrellhindley.co.uk |
