They look a little long in the neck….

DragonfireGames17 Oct 2010 9:34 p.m. PST

Very Nice Tony! I will be buying some for the shop in Australia at dragonfiregames.com.au

Nadir Shah17 Oct 2010 9:37 p.m. PST

Oh very nice miniatures. Siege Works Studios will definantly be adding a few picks of these to our War of Spanish Succession Rulebook as soon as we are at the formatting/graphic design stage. They will make great pics! :)

Nice paint job. It just goes to show that with a little patience, even old Airfix figures can be brought to life. I must admit I hadn't realised Airfix did a WSS range so this was a pleasant surprise.

Gunfreak Supporting Member of TMP18 Oct 2010 3:40 a.m. PST

They aren't airfix they are wargames factory hard plastic 28mm

Editor my Arse18 Oct 2010 4:47 a.m. PST

Oh! Well an easy mistake to make, they certainly look the part. This retro trend makes me feel all nostalgic, bit like those WW2 Russians that came out recently, very Airfix in terms of posing and the soft detail.

You're a bad man Malandro! grin

"They look a little long in the neck…."

Just seat the head lower when attaching it.

Finally, we get to see the finished product and it has been worth the wait.

Tony, has pricing etc been sorted out yet and will there be any discount bulk purchase packages (as per the Saxons) that might be suitable to ask Santa for?

CAPTAIN BEEFHEART18 Oct 2010 8:48 a.m. PST

Well worth the wait.

Lee Brilleaux Fezian18 Oct 2010 9:10 a.m. PST

They'll be 36 figures for $19.95.

I'd be very surprised if we didn't offer a package deal. After all, if you are going to make a Marlburian army, you'll need a lot of infantry.

Fifty418 Oct 2010 10:11 a.m. PST

Thanks everyone!

Feel free to send suggestions as to what those army deals should be! Obviously, they'll be more complex/interesting when the cavalry is out down the road. But for now you can build some nice infantry forces!

Best,
Tony

I need to take my socks off to use my fingers and toes to convert that to money I understand…

..about 34 pence a figure…

Fifty418 Oct 2010 10:33 a.m. PST

At today's rate – about 35 actually. ;-)

Griefbringer18 Oct 2010 10:34 a.m. PST

How about 3 box (108 figures) and 6 box (216 figures) deals for ordinary gamers, and a 10 box (360 figures) big deal for the real addicts?

And once the cavalry is out, how about a starter army deal with 3 boxes of infantry and 3 boxes of cavalry?

Porkmann18 Oct 2010 3:17 p.m. PST

I like them – though not the standard bearer's left arm :-( – will certainly pick up 7 regiments worth for the ImagiNation of "Beimbach-Schönau" if the price is good.

I seem to remember seeing a picture of the sprue somewhere can someone link it please?

andygamer18 Oct 2010 4:31 p.m. PST

It was in one of your own threads, Porkmann.

Fifty418 Oct 2010 6:21 p.m. PST

How much do you want them for Griefbringer?

Tomsurbiton18 Oct 2010 10:50 p.m. PST

Will anywhere in the UK stock/sell these? They do look fine.

Porkmann18 Oct 2010 11:01 p.m. PST

Thanks Andy – I wish TMP had a "view your own threads" function – it would prove useful.

It does. Simply use the search facility with yourself as the author.

What with all the spare upper bodies, heads and accoutrements we will end up with a lot of extra plastic. Can't we have a sprue with nothing but a lower body on it that we can buy separately to use these up?

Griefbringer19 Oct 2010 4:05 a.m. PST

I like them – though not the standard bearer's left arm

In the example given, the standard is indeed posed rather dynamically. However, posing the arm a bit differently shouldn't be too hard – if necessary, cutting the hand at wrist and regluing it at a different angle would probably do a lot.

What with all the spare upper bodies, heads and accoutrements we will end up with a lot of extra plastic.

Isn't that the purpose of multi-part plastics in the first place? You get a lot of extra pieces so you have choice over how to assemble your models.

Major William Martin RM19 Oct 2010 4:18 a.m. PST

Tony – To "steal" Griefbringer's question, using Conquest's "deal" on their Norman Cavalry as a rough guide; one box = $19.95 USD (36 figures), 3 boxes = $54.95 USD (108 figures), 5 boxes = $84.95 USD (180 figures), and 7 boxes for $114.95 USD (252 figures). That works out to 1 box = $19.95 USD per box, 3 = $18.32 USD per box, 5 = $16.99 USD per box, and 7 = $16.42 USD per box.

Since those numbers come close to representing an "army" of Infantry for an average player with "BLB" or "Black Powder", and a very good-sized "army" for a set like "Impetus: Le Roi du Soleil", I don't know if I would offer a larger deal on just Infantry. However, you might consider an "Army Pack" deal when the Cavalry is out and combine some number of Infantry boxes with Cavalry for a fixed price.

Just my thoughts on "reasonable" discounts, but you know what your "true" sprue cost is, can you go that deep?

1ngram – Since Wargames Factory have shifted direction somewhat to "mini-sprues" for the future additions, I am already working on suggested artwork for at least two mini-sprues of separate lower torso/leg combinations to use with the existing upper torso's, one that will do a true "standing-firing" pose and one for a "leaning forward" pose that could be used for "Pikes Receiving" or for battalion gun crew figures or "advancing in skirmish order" for the Colonial and Pirate "skirmish" folks.

Musketier19 Oct 2010 6:55 a.m. PST

Sir William – a proper "standing firing" set of legs would indeed be most welcome methinks, as the current poses all appear to be moving. For the rest, these look very promising indeed – glad they did make the League cut!
I shall have to speak to my treasurer now, while looking forward to the cavalry and hopefully, an artillery set as well…

DHautpol19 Oct 2010 9:56 a.m. PST

Any indications when these will hit the UK?

Diadochoi19 Oct 2010 10:28 a.m. PST

Fifty4 – Sir Williams figures look around the right level, 10-15% discount for bulk purchases, maybe 20% if you are going to have 10 box deals as suggested.

I am glad to see that the WSS infantry have been priced at the "historical" rather than "SF" level. It is a big army period and with both sides similarly equiped, 10 boxes of infantry is probably the norm rather than just for "real addicts". That makes it a major project, both for painting and for cost and if they had been priced higher I would have had to rethink this probably being THE major project next year (after the Austrian Napoleonics have enough painted to field).

Can I ask a seperate question (which might have been asked elswhere), why are some of the army deals on your website not available at the moment?

Fifty419 Oct 2010 11:12 a.m. PST

Thanks Guys –

DHautpol – if all goes to plan – we should have them there in early December.

Diadochoi – we're currently out of a few products that make up the deals (they're on the boat with the new sets) – so we'll have them back when they come in and are packaged up by Triangle.

Thanks all!
Tony

Just to be a twit…When's the cav coming out? : )

Fifty419 Oct 2010 6:15 p.m. PST

Bill (above) has volunteered to help organize the cav set and has done some amazing work on this. Check it out here:

We'd shoot for about 2 months after the infantry come out and then figure out the artillery after that.

Thanks again,
Tony
