I always enjoyed the Last Painter Standing contests here… but it's been a while since there was one.
It always seemed a great way to feature new miniatures and get a clue at how other folks go about things like color scheme and presentation… but WAY less persnickety than CMON.
What would it take to get it started again?

To me it would be great if the 'theme' could cover a wide variety of subjects… historical, SF, fantasy… something like 'Gladiators' or 'Grunts'. Have the GW guys paint a historical mini and visa versa.

Wouldn't be hard to start again at all, if people are interested. Might try some "simpler" painting contests first to warm things up…

I painted in the paint a Simian legion contest years ago. I actually finished in the top three. It was a lot of fun and an interesting challange. Id certainly be interested.

I'm in just send me the figures… What! I have to provide my own, could be a issue right there as the missus has a scenery project she wants finished, a model of our house in 1:1 LOL.

The only problem I have with the LPS contest is too many people drop out every time. That's why I don't even bother entering as I know I can't make the commitment and it really frustrates me to see people making the commitment and then bailing. I do love watching the contests and seeing what people come up with. I think contests with a little less long term commitment required of the contestants would be better.

Ah man – Id love to see something like that happen here. It would be fun! Like Delthos said, Ive seen lots of long term contests that are kinda crappy because people bail on them. But, it would be cool to see monthly or bi-monthly contests where you do a specific group (like 'sci-fi', or 'ww2'), or a specific miniature.

I am willing, and down for it. I could even be talked into supplying some prizes (although admittedly, my stuff is more "bits" than figures).

Yeah, I only bring up LPS because it's the TMP painting contest I remember best… and I seeing the same miniature painted in a variety of ways.
Having one-offs would be great as well.
