Hello! I've read that Irregular's 6mm fantasy range is really varying in quality
hit & miss. As there are very few pictures on their website, could anybody tell me which (if any) miniatures of this range to avoid, and which are good? thanks! |

Hard to answer – they are small figures and tend to blobbiness, but the lizards, the humans, the undead, the orcs are all much the same quality. Good enough for me. |

I've only seen a few of them, but I thought the high elves were the best of the bunch. In general, I don't like Irregular's cavalry nearly as much as their foot. Baccus, by the way, also has a small fantasy range. Doug |

I have a large number of their 6mm rat men that I use as intelligent normal sized rats in 25mm (The Swords of Lankhmar style) and rate them well for this purpose. So they should do ok for 6mm use. The human cavalry should be avoided and the lizards look ok (I have painted some but never used them on the games table) no real experience of the rest. x42 |

Some of the monsters are quite good – the hydra and the nazgul for example. And the larger equipment items, giants etc. |

I think I own most of the line excluding some humans (Amazons). I like the Men of the West. They are pretty nice. The Orcs and Goblins are good. Even the Hobbits look pretty cool. The characters and Monsters are also pretty solid. I even have a lot of them painted. I simply don't know what rules to use with them. I also own large 28mm and 15mm armies. Thanks, John |

The Undead are very nice miniatures, mainly cloaks but with well sculpted and defined "bones". |

ok! thanks for your input! |

You know,of course, that Irregular look much better when they're painted. I have a few of these and I like them well enough. |

What rules are folks using? I thought about using Warmaster but haven't decided. Thanks, John |

I found Irregulars pretty darn blobby – I couldn't distinguish Orc archers for example. Their monsters are ok though. As to rules – I'm using Polemos Mythic Armies. Sköl Sven |

Hi Thanks to linking to my site above. I am in the middle of rebasing and repainting them and hope to upload some photos in a couple of months. The Undead are very nice as are the High elves, Evil Knights, Men of th West and Halflings. The Wood elves are not quite as nice but still good. The Orcs can be a bit blobby but the Man Orcs are very nice. Some of the monsters are a bit unusual but there are plenty of other options out there. The mounted figures in genral can be a bit poorly cast as they are What ranges are you interested in? Cheers Kieran |

Are you still using the same rules? Thanks, John |

Kieran, your website is the one responsible for my current 6mm fantasy bug
damn you
or thanks
not sure which
I was considering orcs, undeads, humans
and maybe dwarves
and elves
beastmen?.. and
you get my point
I don't have a particular range in mind at the momment, i'm just exploring possibilities. Probably end up like good bunch versus bad bunch. I'm disapointed to hear about cavalry tough. I am really fond of horsemen and their beastly counterpart
any particular cavalry figure that are good? also, I'm familiar with GHQ 6mm moderns. How do irregular compare to GHQ's infantry (which is quite incredible
)? |

GHQ are super, but of course they don't do fantasy. Except for the occasional piece, Irregular are not in the same league. But then again, who is? The frustrating thing about Irregular is how
irregular
they are. Some are really excellent, and some are dreck, with the majority somewhere in between. You might consider doing what I did a few years ago and ordering one or two each of a bunch of items, just to look at them in-hand. You might also want to do the same with Baccus, while you're at it. Something to keep in mind where the monsters are concerned is that 10mm (or larger miniatures) can be very handy. For example, I've got some 10mm beastmen with wolf heads from Eureka that are just the ticket for Wolfen in 6mm. Another is the uses to which historical minis can be put. In 6mm, noone will be able to see that your elves don't have pointy ears. Doug |

Le Bovin Sorry for the late reply and I just read my last post and realised it was incomplete. IMHO I think the Irregular fantasy range is one of their best ranges. The cav is cast in a strip of 4-5 figures side by side so sometimes the figures are joined together in certain places. The Open order figures are less so. I have only brought Elven, Undead, Knights, Men of the West and Amazonian mounted and you can still cut the strips up (apart from the High Elf cav) and they are nice and the problem isnt that apparent. If you do cut the strips then make such you dont have the cut figure on the outside of the base. I think I made it sound worse than it is and I would recommend buying some samples to have a look. Anymore questions email me on the address at the website. Cheers kieran |

6mm is a difficult one for fantasy with Irregular being one of the few suppliers. I've got their Dwarves and undead and both are really nice figs. The undead need a good paintjob otherwise they end up looking very indistinct. The Dwarves are lovely though with some of the shields even showing wood grain. Can't vouch for the rest of the range however. |
