Not sure what I've done with my SWMB rulebook, so am wondering if there are any online sources for TO&E's for the various factions, e.g. Imperials and Rebels, etc.? I'm especially interested in the following, and have seen some references to various numbers of personnel in a squad, but have no idea if they are accurate (not that it really matters I guess, but just curious): Sandtroopers (7 and 9 mentioned) Stormtroopers (9 mentioned, but 10 seems like a nice round number) Rebel Troopers like those on the blockade runner Rebel Commandoes Emperor's Imperial Guard (I seem to recall seeing at least six in the movies) Sandpeople Scouttroopers on Speeder Bikes (5/10 – 11 mentioned; 22 in a platoon?) Thoughts? |

The old West End Games Star Wars Rebel Alliance and Imperial sourcebooks had quite a bit of that sort of thing, and you can probably find them either on ebay or as pirated downloads. Not sure how canonical they are these days though, and they don't touch the prequel trilogy. |

I thought that Stormtroopers were in squads of 8 while the Army was in units of 10. I'll look in my books later today. Thanks, John |

RPGNOW I believe may have some of the olf WEG books in pdf format. And yes several contain OOB for the various Imperial and Rebel and even some planatery defence forces. |

Ok, here is what I got for ya. The info can be found on pages 49-64 of the SWMB Companion. It also mentions that more info on the Imp. Army can be found in the old WEG Imperial Sourcebook. Here are the basic breakdowns. Rebel Alliance As a whole does not have one cohesive organization. The member worlds are free to organize their forces in whichever way they feel is best. However, the Rebellion does maintain an organized force for those times when large-scale actions are required. These forces are Alliance High Command's SpecForces. They are the forces one usually thinks of when Rebel soldiers are mentioned. These troops are also used as marines, assigned on board and guarding ships that carry important cargo. The organization of even the SpecForces is flexible, being adaptable to different situations as required. Division = a flexible number of Regiments which task forces are assembled from Regiment = 4 Companies Company = 5 Platoons Platoon = 4 Squads Squad = 10 soldiers (incl. Commander and 1-2 specialists) A typical Assault Company could consist of 4 Line Platoons and a Heavy Weapons Platoon. Now I could go into much more detail for the Rebels or if you would like I could try to scan those pages as they include markings and such. There was a dealer at GenCon and Origens selling these old books at 10 for $30, well worth a look at. Imperial System Army Army = 4 Corps (Line, Atrisian, Armor and Mobile) Corps = 4-5 Battle Groups Battle Group = 4 Regiments Regiment = 4 Battalions Battalion = 4 Companies (close in size to a Rebel Regiment, and varies in size depending on type) Company = up to 4 Platoons Platoon = Lt., Sgt. Maj., 4 Squads Squad = 8 Soldiers The smallest independent unit was the Platoon until after Endor at which point the Squad became the smallest independent unit. Stormtroopers Organization Emperor Corp Commanders Stormtrooper Corps = 4 Divisions Division = 4 Brigades Brigade = 4 Battalions (equivilant to the Imp. Army's regiment) Battalion = 3 Companies Company = 4 Platoons Platoon = 4 Squads Squad = 8 or 10 Troopers depending on mission (including Sqd. Commander and possibly some specialists) The squad is the smallest independent unit. Now I don't know how canonical that is. I see in the old WEG SW Sourcebook they list a Standard Battalion Garrison as having 800 Stormtroopers. However, using the SWMB Companion you would have 480 Stormtroopers max in a Trooper Battalion so there seems to be a bit of discrepancy unless there is a difference between a Trooper Battalion and an Standard Battalion Garrison. Standard Battalion Garrison Personnel Stormtroopers 800 Scout Troopers 40 Speeder Bike Techs 10 Tie fighter pilots 40 Ground Crew Techs 60 Controllers 25 Sensor Techs 25 Gunners/Weapons Techs 100 Walker Crew 50 Walker Techs 80 Imp. Intel Officers 50 Base Security/detention Troops 150 Perimeter Support Troops 200 Trade Mission/Diplomats 70 Support/Services 500 Technical Personnel 200 Science 200 Medical 100 total 3000 Vehicles Tie Fighters 40 AT-AT 10 AT-ST 10 Speeder Bikes 40 Landspeeders 60 Misc. vehicles 100 total 260 I hope this helps. I tend to use the info from the SWMB Companion for my games. |

Well
you asked for it
SWMB Imperial Entaglements had an Ewok scenario "Terror in the Trees". The Rebs had three Ewok units each with 6 veteran Ewoks armed with 2 spears and a knife. Each unit includes a commander and one has a specialist with a blaster pistol. The Ewoks also get to place traps on the table. The Rebels also get a unit of 10 Rebel Troopers. Now I know that is not a full TOE but it's the best I could come up with. lol |

Thanks for the detailed info RW, and everyone else. I really appreciate it. In A New Hope, I believe 7 Sandtroopers engaged the Millenium Falcon crew, just before they blasted out of the hanger. I think 6 troopers confronted Luke and Obi as they entered the city. Of course, that doesn't mean the correct TO&E, but does provide at least some reference on squad size. For the Imperial Landing Craft stats, the cargo is listed as 54 Sandtroopers, in 6 squads (9 men each), plus 6 speeder bikes, 12 x E-Web guns, and other equipment. So, you can see my confusion. Just getting it in the ballpark will be fine for me, but I was curious to see what the official stats were, if they existed. I wasn't aware there was a SWMB companion publication, so I'll have to check into it. I'd be interested in the name, or e-mail address of the vendor selling the Star Wars books, if anyone knows that. Best regards,
Rob |

Yea there were three books published for SWMB. SWMB – core book Companion (Part of the Vehicle Starter Set, it came in a boxed set and included speeder bikes and snowspeeder figs) Imperial Entaglements All those numbers you give above fall close enough to the 8-10 Troopers in a squad. We all know that troops rarely opperate at full TOE strength. I'll try to figure out who it was that had those books. I meant to pick some up myself this year. He has had them, as well as a ton of other stuff at the same price, for the past few years. |

The Star Wars Miniatures Battles Companion was an individual book expanding and clarifying Star Wars Miniatures Battles. It was later included in the Vehicle Starter Set when that boxed set came out. So you should be able to find just the book. If I recall correctly, though, you got a good deal on all the contents by buying the boxed set. Of course that was back when they sold for retail. No telling what people may be asking for them now. |

Imperial Entanglements was primarily a scenario book. There was a Rules Clarification and Upgrade in the front and some Troop Lists in the back, but the bulk of it was scenarios. |
