It may be quite obvious that I am very excited about this new company and venture. My most percious book is the WRG (Arimies of Ancient near East) one sadly out of print. A company that seems to be working towards bring out out all those armies in 28mm is a dream come true for me.

They are more petite as said elsewhere but the general opinion seems to highlight the amazing scuplting. They have certainly grown on me and when painted they really stand out. IMHO they are very well researched and there can be no doubt how committed Pete is to bringing this period to life.

The present period/armies is obscure for many but a lot of info is given on site and indeed my own knowledge has increased. It must be very high risk bringing out obscure periods/figures and I take my hat off to Pete on this venture. Next up will be the command packs and they will contain characters such as Sargon the Great and Hammurabi of Babylon.

I agree about the site and the figures.
The website is very well done, excellent pictures and a wealth of information on the era and armies.
I have 2 packs of the figures which are fantastic sculpts, lovely detail, very clean crisp casting and good anatomy.

BUT:
The 2 packs I have (Highlander skirmishers) are soon to hit eBay because I cannot use them alongside my Redoubt/Black Tree/OG Trojan war collection. The size difference is (for me) just too extreme.
I would equate the difference to seeing a Thunderbolt Mountain High Elf up against a GW High Elf, roughly the same height, but one is lean, finely proportioned and anatomically perfect. The other is a troll with huge head chubby limbs and bloated hands.
Unfortunately when the other 600 figures in the collection are all of the Trollish variety the "good sculpts" stick out and look wrong.

But for anyone starting from scratch, or trying to match in with older (true?) 25mm ancients/biblicals the CE figures are perfect.

So, would they match well with say Ral Partha or Foundry?

You should read "Warfare in Ancient near East to 1600 BC" by William Hamblin.

Yes, I would say that Cutting Edge match the early Perry Foundry Biblicals such as the Egyptians, Canaanites and Hittites etc. These, I understand also fit with the Ral Partha. They will also match with Immortal and others. There is a size comparison shot on my website.
cheers

RobH. I think your point is very honest and well put. Black Tree are Huge and I found that their Egyptians were just too big to use with Foundry for example. Most Trojan wars 28mm are very Heroic in size to match Redoubt??

The Highlanders will match much better with Foundry Hittites as Gasgans for example and therfore Ral Partha too. My Hammurabic army is looking very good IMHO and the common opinion of great sculpting is very much apparent.

Thanks Pete; just what I needed.
