Read a lot about them, still don't have a clear picture of what it should be gamed like.

Rules? Would need a lot of hidden movement and ambush mechanics, methinks.

Figures? For 15mm, one Irregular pose. :( Any others? proxies? Conversions?

Terrain? Thick jungle, and maybe a station in the interior, an Ashanti village perhaps, and a coastal fort?

What you think?

Can't say sbout 15mm, but in 28mm Castaway Arts do an entire line: link and link I actually won a prize at Historicon in an Ashanti Game Gerry put on, which did indeed feature a great deal of close terrain and used The Sword and the Flame for rules.

Cool! Any Pics of your game?

smokeyroan,

There is a special supplement in "The Sun Never Sets" for fighting the Ashanti using TSATF, with unit organization, tactics, weaponry, and other bits all designed to give the flavor of their battles.

If you don't already have the rules (sorry if I've forgotten!), let me know and I'll send you a PDF of the rules for the Ashanti.

Oh, and Jeff is right to recommend Castaway Arts Ashanti figures! They not only look great, they're a very complete line, and include Swordbearers (which feature in the rules), and other important types. I have 'em, and they are wonderfull!

Irregular's grand total of ONE Ashanti figure in their 15mm range might not be quite as bad as it sounds, as each code often contains several variations (though I can't say for sure this is the case here).

Do you ever begin to think you are gaming in the wrong scale, Smokey? Your gaming posts seem to forever consist of subjects well covered in 28mm that you want to game with 15s. You know there is an easy and painless way to fix that. :)

Thick jungle is putting it mildly. Scary, confused firefights at extreme close range in dense forest vegetation seem to have been the norm.

I'm looking at Patrick's Ashanti rules in "The Sun Never Sets" right now. Well worth a read to plunder for ideas even if you don't play TSATF.

Castaway Arts actually has a free and basic set of rules on their website.

Using a variation of the Hott rules.
Most of the figures here are converted from various ancient figs.
The muskek armed troops are mostley from inian mutaney ranges

True, Plynkes :)

Paul, GREAT stuff!

Pat, I don't have "The Sun Never Sets". But I have TSATF
Thanks

Oh and CAN'T WAIT for you upgraded Isandhlwana/Feree rules to come out!

Thanks guys, I have a bunch jungle trails made up, and want to game this war.

What of Ashanti huts and buildings? Any good references?

I have 3 Irregular Miniatures 15mm Ashanti. Its one figure but all my 3 figs are 3 different variants. One variant is just a warrior. Second – same warrior with big cloth, thirs warrior with cloth parth of which covers his left hand. I think I'll get whole 10 man unit of them (I use GASLIGHT) as elites or something. For other figs I'll make a coversion with greenstuff and existing ancient and tribal minis.
