I've been "out of the loop" on this, but would appreciate an update. Thanks! |

The ships large and small are available from Ironwind and AOG. The Gropos stuff is not. The 25mm infantry is also OOP. Thanks, John |

Seems like Iron Wind isn't producing anything B5 presently, but AoG's site looks promising. I guess I'd be asking for too much in wondering if the B5 station was available, too. What about the publications? |

I think you'll find that IWM only had the license for a short while. They were so expensive over here even GW looked reasonable. |

I've never seen the AOG mini for the B5 station but the plastic model kit is usually readily available on Ebay and seems like it's more in scale. Just saying

Pong Nyaarl Ta, I've come to find out that the B5 Revell kit is in scale with the B5W miniatures, while the metal model station AoG produced was in scale with the Fleet Action minis. Here's what AoG's model looked like: picture |

As far as I know Mongoose sold/gave the license to Ironwind (along with the old molds). Iornwind were then starting to remaster some of the minis and making new molds. Then it was annouced that the license had lapsed, and the Movie Studio wasn't interested in negotiating a renewal. Basically the legal fees to make the agreement vs the revenue Ironwind would have generated made it a non starter. So its a 'dead' background as far as officically licenced minis are concerned. But thats how I remember it, so I'm probably wrong

Close. Mongoose had the entire license and sublet the miniatures to IWM. The license renewal came along and the price (possibly with increase) was more than Mongoose was making from it or could hope to. With the Mongoose license lapsed, the IWM component of it lapsed as well. |

IWM were able to cast new B5 miniatures up until end of June in 2009. They were allowed to sell anything they had cast up at that point until the end of December in 2009. After that they had to destroy everything they produced. I think they did cast up anything that was order prior to the end of June as well. I know I bought a whole bunch of stuff from them before they stopped casting new ships. It took them quite some time to get them to me as they had a huge influx of orders before the deadline. IWM had the original sculptor fix some of the ships so they also released a bunch of really nice castings as well. In some cases you could compare them to the Mongoose casted ones and it was hard to believe they were the same ship. Mongoose had gotten all the old molds and were using them, but as they didn't have the masters. Some of theirs were really bad. It's too bad they didn't make the deal earlier in their license. They had been having problems with their castings for quite some time and I know they lost even more money as I had to have about 20 of my ships replaced by them. This was no isolated incident either. The license no longer being profitable was the primary reason they gave for not renewing it. People had suggested that Mongoose subcontract out the casting like they eventually did. Matt from Mongoose kept telling everyone that they couldn't do it, due to some restriction in their license. Low and behold, a year before the license ended they did just what he said they couldn't do. You can still get ships from Agents of Gaming. Some online retailers still have some ships too, but very few of them have any of the really popular ships. For example, its nearly impossible to find a Victory class destroyer, or any of the big four really. |

Happily, I picked up mine after AOG dumped the line. They were dirt cheap then. Love the FA ships. Sold all my large scale ones (over a 100) to dive into the smaller ships. Now have every major race and all but one or two of the really small League worlds. Thanks, John |
