Has anyone written a unit designer for Epic or any of the spin off systems like NetEpic? If no, why not? |

Mostly because the point system isn't defined. There are instances where units with completely identical statlines have different point values in two different armies. This makes comparisons across armies impossible to make, so you can't create a whole new army from scratch and have it work right out of the gate. I was peripherally involved with the Eldar list that was published in Swordwind, and that army list went up to version 10.8.4 as various tweaks were made. I was heavily involved in the Tau list, and that's gone through 7 major versions, (v1-5, an E series, and now v6), with at least 3 different variations in each version. A lot of it is simply fixing the points costs, at least now that we're up to Tau v6.32 |

I have a very basic Excel-based army builder for the unit point values given in the Epic handbook, but not for designing your own individual tanks and whatnot. |

I thinking from the point that whenever discussions come up, more often then not someone chimes in saying Epic (whatever version) is the best because
, but your tied to the 40K universe and the minis cost a fortune. And other Specialist Games have been ported, ie Warmaster, and there is the whole NetEpic following, but nobody has build the Epic engine into a generic scifi game. It make me wonder why not? |

Epic Armageden, the last of 4 iteration since '89-'90, is the best system of the lot. However we prefer the SM1 TO&E system over all others. And the Epic:A system overall is pretty good but still has some
"flaws", IMO. If you really want to get into an indepth "chat" about Epic, go to the Tactical Command Wargame site. Epic/6mm Sci-fi, in all forms, is the #1 topic of choice there

"nobody has build the Epic engine into a generic scifi game. It make me wonder why not?" I have no idea, but I certainly would buy it if they did. E:A still my favourite rules set by far. |

I've been slowly working on a rewrite, I'd say I'm 1/3 of the way through the core rules after about a month. I changed a few things mainly to incorporate some of the DSII mechanics I like though. I could post them when the core and special rules are done if people like (hopefully by the end of the year). They'd be free though Bill, sorry. :P |

I'd certainly be interested checking it out. |
