Hi! Any good tips on Vallejo colours for Splinter B smocks? The base is a strange grey/ green colour in some pics and a pale brown in others. I take the view that actual garments varied due to batch of fabric+ weathering etc, but a few basic recommendations would be helpful. Cheers! :O) picture |

Painting 15s, for the base I think I used Vallejo Khaki, or I might have added a little white to it to wash it out a little. I think I used Chocolate Brown or German Camoflage Brown and I think I used Military Green for the green, then streaked it with the Khaki. I've had trouble matching colors to get them to look like the real thing, though. The colors come out too rich, while the real colors are paler and more washed out. |

Some were a khaki base and some were a grey-green base. I've used Vallejo German Camo-Beige (70821) and Green Grey (70886) for those, respectively. The other colors were various shades of brown & green. Resistant Roosters had a great tutorial – not sure if it's still around. Dean |

Artizan has a very good painting guide on their website with the colour codes for Vallejo |

Airfix reckon to use Hu78 – which is airframe interior green – for FJ smocks and on their 1/32 figures it actually looks pretty good. |

If your colors are a little too rich, add a bit of lightened khaki drybrush over the top (or whatever your 'dust' color of choice happens to be). The problem with painting camo on a mini is that the painter has a different goal than the camo designer: the painter wants to see the colors and details, while the camo designer *doesn't*. |
