York PA – The Johnny Reb Gaming Society is pleased to announce a new partnership with The Wargame Vault to make available some of our more popular products in digital, downloadable format. The first two scenario books to be for sale in this format are Crossed Sabers: Cavalry Scenarios from the Gettysburg Campaign and Touched With Fire: Scenarios from the American Civil War. These are only $9.99, a savings of 33% off the retail price for the hard copy versions. For Crossed Sabers, see link For Touched With Fire, see link In the future, we plan to make back issues of our CHARGE! newsletter available in the same format, again at a deep discount versus hard copies. You save on the cover price and pay NO POSTAGE! We also plan to make available other regimental level scenarios and products. |

Might you do this with Enduring Valor as well? |
Scott Mingus | 06 Sep 2010 1:15 p.m. PST |
I have made this suggestion to the publisher of Enduring Valor: Gettysburg in Miniature, Ivor Janci. Enduring Valor and Undying Courage: Antietam in Miniature are not published by the Johnny Reg Gaming Society, but by Marek/Janci Design. I have given Ivor my approval for the books to be digitized, but ultimately it is his call for those books. |

Scott, are these scenarios already covered in the cavalry Gettysburg printed volume and previous issues of "Charge!"? eg; If I already have all the Charge issues & the Gettysburg Cavalry scenario tome, am I getting anything new? different? thanks, love your works; I've put on many Gettysburg wargames using Fire and Fury Regimental using Enduring Valor scenario maps. They are consistently excellent. The maps in Charge, coming from many sources, as one might expect, vary in quality and can be challenging to figure out, especially when no scale is offered and one must adjust between JRIII [1' = 50 yds] and RFF [1"=25 yds]. |

These indeed have been previously published in other formats, Rick. |

Well, for those of us who are newer to regimental ACW, this looks very nice. A purchase on the way! |

To clarify: Crossed Sabers contains a dozen scenarios from the Gettysburg Campaign, including East Cavalry Field (which appeared in Enduring Valor) and a couple of scenarios from CHARGE. The rest only have appeared in the hard copy 2007 version of Crossed Sabers. All scenarios in Touched by Fire have appeared in various issues of CHARGE. More scenarios from Charge (or the back issues themselves) will appear on the Wargame Vault over the autumn and winter
as well as some fresh, original scenarios that will only appear in that format. Stay tuned! |

This is a great development – as a gamer relatively new to the period and with significant time restraints, Brad's earlier scenario pdf's and your additions makes gaming the period all that much easier. Cheers, Christopher |

And the nice thing for those of you in Canada and Europe (and the rest of the world), digital is cheaper in that you don't pay high postage rates for hard copies. Of course, as a papermaker by profession, it's somewhat ironic for me to be joining the digital age and going paperless for this effort. |

These look great Scott! I must say, I do look forward to back issues of Charge! in pdf format. |

This is awesome. I'll be getting Crossed Sabers as soon as I can convince my wife why this is a mission critical purchase. Looking forward to the old Charge copies as well. Is there a plan to sell them by year, or should we wait till the entire back catalog is available for one giant purchase? I am in favor of the other three books going digital as well, but not as much as some of the other folks here. I already have hard copies. =) This news made my day. Which was pretty bad up till now. Large financial corporations not wanting to treat you fairly = bad. Miniature wargaming = good. On second thought, I''ll be getting Crossed Sabers next! Happy wargaming! And sorry for the mini-ranting. -Stephen |

Hi Stephen! Your Gators took care of my Miami of Ohio Red Hawks this past Saturday, although they did not look very convincing. Thanks for the comments on Crossed Sabers. Debi and I are considering offering Charge by year; 4 issues for $9.99 USD or so, which would be half the hard copy cover price and no postage. |

Scott, I think it would be fair to say our O line needs some reps this week. With a focus on snaps. The Red Hawks conditioning coach desires some major kudos. Most teams north of Georgia are hurting bad by about halftime between the heat and humidity in the Swamp. Last Sat was bad, but your boys didn't show it till about halfway through the 3rd quarter. Pretty impressive. Lots of luck this season! It's great to hear about the Charge! back issues. I need to get back to work on my main project, 15mm ACW. About a year and a half ago, I decided to take on both sides, picking out the rules, and obtaining the terrain. Previously, the family had only done 25mm stuff, mostly CLS and TSATF. Right now, I have enough for about 2 smallish brigades a side and some usable terrain. But I need to get back on it. I've been getting distracted the last 6 months or so by other shiny things: 25mm ACW, 1/600 ironclads, 15mm WWII, and maybe 25mm WWII as well. But looking through scenarios is always an incentive to get back to the main project and finish up reading Foote. Happy gaming! -Stephen |
