When it comes to the few manufacturers available does it matter to you between the ones out there whether they overlap in the types carried? Do you think that one company should make types to compliment the others? Or do you feel that more then one company making the same type dilutes what is available? Now Tumbling Dice's range is the largest by far.But Oddzial Osmy/O8 is putting out more,in addition to similar types, that TD doesn't carry and seems to be producing more types not previously made at a faster rate. Do you just buy what you need regardless? I for one buy both TD and O8.I just don't mix them in the same formations. As for the newer releases I buy whichever comes out first. For example the O8 JU-52 which came out before the TD version. Robert My 1/600 Miniature Aircraft Wargaming Yahoo Group. link |

I pretty much just purchase what is needed at the time, regardless. Many of the aircraft by TD are quite good, and some are superb. There are also a few I don't care for. I really like the OO aircraft, since many seem to be a bit more true to the original models, in terms of overall shape. Also, their latest releases include even superbly detailed air-to-air missiles, drop tanks, and other ordnance too, raising the bar a bit in my opinion. I'm just happy someone is finally producing them (of course TD has been for some time now). Still, I'd love to see many of the missing modern jets, e.g. Su-34, Su-37 MK, F-22, Rafale, XB-70, F-108, etc. Of course, we're still impatiently awaiting SAM missiles, launchers, and radar for them, e.g. the SA-2, SA-3, SA-4, SA-5 (this one is still in service with many, and is an excellent long-range model), SA-6, trailered HAWK, Rapier, Roland, Nike, Bloodhound, etc. |

Yes please on all the SAM types. I am quite happy with TD aircraft, although I have OO tanks and Infantry etc. My favourite out there though are Raiden but they are all Luftwaffe 46 or unmade prototypes at the moment, they do a superb TSR2. |

I use both and as long as you don't mix the same planes from different manufacturers in the same game you should be OK.. I must admit if TD does it I usually use theirs. Fatman |

Another request for the SAM types. And I freely mix TD, OO, and Raiden. |

I use TD as my baseline, but since O8 is releasing aircraft at a faster rate, more and more of them are sitting in my collection. It doesn't matter to me too much about overlap, as long as I eventually get what I want (more modern fighters for me too!) :-) Chris |

Actually Raiden does have one type that overlaps with TD FreddBloggs. The P-51D. One other company that has some of the same aircraft as TD is the Skytrex line too. Though not as big a line as TD and O8. Robert My 1/600 Miniature Aircraft Wargaming Yahoo Group. link |

Marcin posted this in another discussion about TD and O8 over in the Hobby News part of TMP. I thought it was relevant and thought I would post it here too. Robert "For those two-part aircraft haters – next releases should be all one-piece castings – at least smaller aircraft. Larger will be still 'kits'. Also because we've changed our casting service to more skilled one, new models should be less 'inflated' ;) And actually we don't overlap anybody production with this month releases. We trying to release also more unusual aircraft together with 'mainstream' types to make complete not only complement ranges. All the best Marcin Oddzial Osmy" My 1/600 Miniature Aircraft Wargaming Yahoo Group. link |

I really like the Skytrex P-51's and P-47's. |

Skytrex was where I bought my FW-200 and AR-196s before TD came out with them. Robert My 1/600 Miniature Aircraft Wargaming Yahoo Group. link |

I forgot to add as a good example that since Skytrex had them out first I didn't wait for the other companies to make them. TD would have been cheaper obviously. I guess sometimes it all depends on how long you are willing to wait. Robert My 1/600 Miniature Aircraft Wargaming Yahoo Group. link |

It looks like Marcin from O8 will be releasing his WWII US line soon perhaps.Marcin posted in my Group back in July that "We should release US forces this year (Tunisian campaign)." And they will be "A usual mix of Shermans, Half-tracks and Jeeps – you know ;) From aircraft some earlier fighters and bombers: P-40E, P-39, early Mustang and Jug, B-25
Maybe something more odd if I figure it out
". And just recently he stated perhaps in November. So it looks like a few more types that will overlap. Robert My 1/600 Miniature Aircraft Wargaming Yahoo Group. link |

@TGA: Why do you want in-scale ground targets? Due to distance and speed, wouldn't photos or counters be better? Fight's On! ( fightson.webs.com )has some great semi-flat pieces that you can use, and some wonderful missile markers, too. |

I had also forgot to mention too is the cost per pack and amount of miniatures by pack difference between TD and O8. That sometimes plays a part in my choice. Especially with the current exchange rates.Robert My 1/600 Miniature Aircraft Wargaming Yahoo Group link |

"@TGA: Why do you want in-scale ground targets? Due to distance and speed, wouldn't photos or counters be better?" I ran into that very thing. Got some of the last 1/600 SA-2 systems with six launchers and Fan Song radar, hardened aircraft shelters, revetments, etc, only to find games aren't very fun when you start well within SAM range. I get better results painting an entire SAM site on some card and an airfield on another. |

Hello all.I just received my newest order of O8 aircraft from John at Picoarmor. They were WSU-637 Po-2LNB, WFR-629 Bre-693, WIT-626 G.55 Centauro, WSU-639 LaGG-3,WBR-643 Vickers Wellington,US-670,F-84 Thunderjet and WBR-641 Skua. All of the new models except the Skua and of course the PO-2 are now a single casting. So they all look great. Now for those who didn't like to you wont have to try and fiddle around with gluing the wings on. Robert My 1/600 Miniature Aircraft Wargaming Yahoo Group link |
