I wanted to post a warning to other people about the above named ebay trader, who is also called "Greg" in his emails and "Richard Jackson" in his paypal invoices. He supplies, or rather fails to supply, 6mm baccus painted Napoleonics.

Between 16 June 2010 and 24 July I ordered 8 items from him via "buy it now", with most of those ordered between 16 and 19 of June. The time stated for arrival of item was "2-3 weeks". Total money sent to "Greg" was around £100.00 GBP

To date, I have received only one of those 8 ordered items. That was some Baccus painted 6mm Napoleonic Russian infantry. They arrived without the flags that it was stated they would arrive with, and one of the stands had two rows of command figures, which just looks awful.

I have contacted him on several occasions to get an update, as he has not contacted me. He has made various excuses about "having issues" and making several promises "within 7 days" "end of next week" etc.

I was patient and polite, however a week ago I asked for my order to be fulfilled within 7 days, or a refund. I never even received a response from him, he ignored the email. So I have today opened disputes for those items within the 45 day ebay protection window. For those outside 45 days I have no idea how to get my money back.

My warning, other than the terrible lack of service, is that this guy is still listing items! Not only that but he is listing them at 40% off his previous prices.

So he is trying to get more sales at a time he has not supplied items ordered over 12 weeks ago. He cannot hope to fulfill these new orders in anything like a reasonable timeframe if he is genuinely this far behind.

Personally I believe his "issues" are possibly financial and hence why he is trying to get more sales at the moment. The big problem is that this figure painter is not supplying the painted figures, just taking the money it seems.

I know he has supplied others as I have found references to him on Google, however my personal experience is that in 12 weeks he has failed to supply my items and is ignoring my emails while still taking other peoples money.

I hope this post may stop someone else losing their money.

I suspect it's a bit late for this …

All UK "Buy It Now" items on eBay are covered by the Distance Selling Regulations (DSR) whatever the seller thinks or says. The seller must all accept returns within 7 days of delivery.

No reason is required and they must also refund any delivery charges. If you weren't informed otherwise at the time of ordering, they must also pay for return postage.

The DSR are enforced by Trading Standards if this helps.

Lots of wacky flaky people out there. Try and use Paypal to get your funds back. Sorry to hear of your problem.

Unfortunately, as consumer programmes make all too obvious, trading standards and distance selling regulations are really only effective when dealing with the good guys, providing structure and guidance to the purchase and refund process. They are next to no use against an out and out crook.

That's weird, I've bought loads of figures from him in the past and not one issue encountered.

Isn't it just as amazing that, on the word of one single complainant you are prepared to brand a person of whom you have no experience a thief.

I'd be careful if I were you, that could be construed as libel, even if you didn't spell it correctly.

Isn't it suprising how one person always comes around and supports the theif saying "I didn't have a problem with him" or "No issue with me". Makes me wonder that motives they have.

It's been a about 18 months since I've used him but I also bought a large number of figures (AWI in my case) with no problems. This is a hobby with a plethora of one man shops and it is unfortunate but hardly unheard of for individuals to get in over their head. That someone has had a satisfactory experience with a provider that has been around for years is not a reason to cast aspersions on their motives.

I have bought a lot of stuff from Sennacherib33 over the last few years without issue. However, my most recent order from him is taking longer than normal to complete and has only partially been filled. Everyone can have problems from time to time, so although his service isn't very good at the moment…I am not going to scratch him off my list quite yet. He has provided me with a lot of quality painted lead over the years, and I hope his service will come back to its old levels.

Grandtactical, I've known the odd order to arrive late for me but they always eventually come through. Have you tried to obtain contact details i.e. phone number and called him?

My Fire & Fury order was filled after three months, but there were over a thousand stands to paint.

On the internet everyone's viewpoint is equally valid. Are other people likely to have different views? you betcha.

Simple point of fact, someone has a problem with the eBayer, to date I haven't.

Evidence suggests something has recently gone wrong and we don't know what.

With the size of this forum I would've thought someone just might personally know Mersey Wargames and could advise us of what's happening.

The fact he has delivered in the past tells me he's not a con artist but that something has happened to change the situation and disrupt the business.

As for my motives, my membership details are quite public and correct.

Never, never let a dispute go beyond the limit. Pull the plug at 30 days and get a full refund from now on.

Can I just say that I've been buying ready painted figures on eBay from Mersey Games for the past few months and the painting has been great and the figures always arrive very quickly, usually the day after I've paid which is the same day as winning the auction. Based upon this I decided to order 3 lots of Baccus AR1 Roman Legionaries, a total of 288 figures. The delivery time quoted on Richard's painting service page is 4-5 weeks and eBau quoted delivery time as being June 5th. The figures arrived yesterday, a day after I had been notified of posting, and I can't fault them.
So I just thought I'd put a post on this thread to say that as far as my experiences go, Mersey Games are great to deal with and I'll be sending off for more commissions in future.

Yes it is funny, I had bought maybe $600 USD Bachus Napoleonic from him between Oct and Dec 2015. I received them all by Jan 2016. So he was a little slow but did deliver.

At the same time I also bought further $400 USD of 6mm Napoleonics from another UK painter and they were an absolute nightmare to deal with. I eventually got my figures after about 3 months but only after I froze their paypal account by putting in a complaint. Every email sent was responded to with the electrics went in the house, the computer crashed, my son is sick etc etc. I was actually OK with all that, people have bad luck but at the same time each email had an offer to sell me more figures at an even cheaper price. The woman absolutely badgered me.

So I really had no problems with Mr Jackson in my dealings with him.

I should correct my post above and say that it is in fact Greg, not Richard who is the proprietor of Mersey games. I assume Greg is the G in his christian names and he prefers that to Richard? Anyway, I ntice that his service is offered with the caveat opf 4-5 weeks delivery time, but that must depend on how many people decide to use his service at any given time, and how many figures they require. If two people by coincidence both put in large orders on the same day within hours of each other then it will put some strain on his ability to deliver on time. $600 USD is about £400.00 GBP by my reckoning, and that buys a heck of a lot of 6mm figures, so I'm not surprised they didn't arrive until January John de Terre Neuve. With the Christmas post overload in the UK I would personally have waited until after Christmas to post them if it was me.I know from a postman who personally told me that last Christmas Royal Mail was so overloaded they just drove several artic lorries full of mail into a warehouse and left them there until after Christmas because they couldn't cope with the backlog.

John de Terre Neuve04 Jun 2016 5:30 a.m. PST

I do not think you are getting what I said Volleyfire.

The post is the post.

Critical phrase: So I really had no problems with Mr Jackson in my dealings with him.

I would have no problem ordering from him again.

Oh I got it alright, I didn't really require the blue writing thanks all the same though.
