I was wondering about using Hasslefree 25mm goblins as 15mm giants for SBH but they do not look right:

Not a giant, I'd say, but a big-eared troll.

If YOU like 'em in a role, that's all that matters.

I use a LOT of 25-28mm in 15mm gaming.

I think it would also work as an ogre.

Yes they work fine. The only time there is every a problem with something like that is if the have objects on them not scaled to 15mm. If for instance they have a human skull on their belt made for 28mm then it would look bad unless you want to explain it as a skull from another giant.

You can add things to make it scale right at the same time. I had left over 15mm skeletons that got "parted out" for decorations on banners and trophy piles.

Yes, that's a good idea.

You've sold me on a troll.

Now given that I am painting these as snow goblins a troll sounds great.

Thanks for the idea grin

Odd coincidence here. I plan to use Ral Partha ogeres with my 15mm Romano-Brits for a game or three.

25mm goblins/ orcs as trolls would be superb.

Some 25/28 make good giants for 15mm, some don't. It depends on the aesthetic liberties the sculptor took. You just have to put some of the 15s you want to use next to the prospective giant and see if it "works."

Now, don't tell my kids but when the 15mm pirates hit the table Skull Island will have a cave from whence will emerge a 28mm giant, which is to say a figure about 50mm tall. That will be a giant, alright!

I'm using a 28mm cyclops figure for my 15mm giant. You can see a photo here.
