I've been interested in Dinosaurs all my life so I thought why not try to express that in models? Well I searched and searched and found what I was looking for. The Tamiya Dinosaur Diorama sets. So going to the website 1999.co.jp/eng I got what I was looking for. I ordered 1 Tyrannosaurus, 2 Parasaurolophus, 1 Triceratops, 1 Velociraptor pack and 1 Mesozoic pack. So far I've built the Parasaurolophus and its gone to priming. I'll keep this topic as a log and show some pictures so that though who are interested can also look at it. I'm also doing it so that I have motivation to finish it. Here are the pics: This is the stuff I have: picture Opening my Parasaurolophus: picture picture First I'm making this one male, the other one I'll make a female. picture Building the head and one of the legs. Thats all the work I've done so far. picture I'll continue with this tomorrow. I hope you like this log! |

I liked the Tamiay models very well – they are a great deal. WHile searching for flyers I found this site that lists many of the discontinued HLPBS dino line |

Any thoughts on colour scheme? I have always stumbled at this point – classic grey / brown / mottled or very wild? link link link well maybe not this one Good luck with the kits Andrew blog.kings-sleep.me.uk |

Thanks for the input people! The colour scheme? Well not really. I do have some reference books so I might as well see that. Otherwise I'm not to sure, but not just plain grey/brown for sure. Updates: Well I've built the other leg and the hands and then worked on the body. I had to put tape on the tail so that the tail sticks together. It was coming apart and not being glued properly so I had to use scotch tape to hold it in place: picture A couple of hours later, I assembled it all together. Not massive but there are big gaps in places such as the legs, arms and seams showing in the model as well from the jointed pieces. picture picture Then the next day I sat down with GW green stuff and fixed all the gaps and seams that showed up with it. I think I did a good job since its really my first time doing such a thing. picture picture Next step is to spray paint it and meanwhile understand what colours to use! |

I did this Tamiya diorama and I enjoyed the kit very much. I used a plastic case for collectible sport gear like basketballs to house the scene. I painted mine in a giraffe-styled scheme of ocher-tan lozenges separated by a red-brown grid. It was just too nice of a kit to not do something special. |
