Got an e-mail from Old Crow that they sent me some pre-production pulls from the 6mm molds last week. I'm crossing my fingers that they will get here before I leave Thursday night for Historicon. They wont be for sale but people can come on by my Friday Crucible launch game (from 10-5) and scope them out if they do get here in time.

As a note OC stated that the pre-prods were cast in all metal but to keep the price down the production figs hulls would be in resin.

I'll re-post later in the week as to their status.

Wish they would stick to metal. I dont like working with resin. Causes respiratory problems when drilled or sanded. Leaves dust all over. Not healthy for me or the grandkids.

Wear a respirator when working the kits (they are right off the rack at any hardware store), and clean up when you're done. Problem solved.

Also I've noted that the high quality resin most companies are using these days is virtually like polystyrene in its properties.

Ive got a respirator. I dont have a filtered sray booth though and the dust goes all over making clean up easier to say than do. The few resin things I work on anymore are done outside during the summer.

Good intel Blackhawk !! Look forward to seeing pics of them & finally getting my hands on them after all these years !

Hmmm, so unit-bases required. have to look hard at how I do the 6mm variant as opposed to our usual 15mm.

Guess they're going to be sold in batches rather than individuals.

See our stuff on the Bovington post below.

Metal would be my preference in this scale too.

If the weapons are resin as well, I can't imagine they will stand up well to the rigors of combat on the tabletop.

I'm assuming that the hulls will be in metal and turrets (with any guns) in metal.

I would say that anyone who's ever got a 28mm Old Crow vehicle knows that the amount of clean up and sanding required is, er, zero. I hope the 6mm stuff will follow suit and I see no reason why it shoudln't.

BTW I've just put some errata on the site, plus an FAQ list and – on request – an expanded contents for download.

Unitrecon – I believe John said they will be sold in unit sizes …

John Treadaway07 Jul 2010 1:47 a.m. PST

That was certainly what Jez at Old Crow said to me: Units of some sort, rather than individuals.

I've supplied an 'easy purchase' list to both Old Crow and posted it on the Slammers site so I'm hoping that'll all just work out..

John, and all

I'm working on the final updates for the Old Crow website for Jez's approval at the end of this weekend. Hopefully the new Slammers pages with "Buy by the unit" options should be up early next week, though the 6mm range buttons may not be activated for a little longer.

6mm figs arrived today and they are absolutely stunning- Jez at OC sent me some blowers (regular and command), a command car, and some hogs.

One thing I really like are the little offset built into the underside that makes the vehicles appear to hover a few millimeters above the ground. This has the dual benefit of looking like a hover tank and makes them MUCH easier to pick up then if they were flat on the table.

Very very impressive.

They did not make it in time for Historicon- they came today and it looks like they were held up in customs for almost a week… :(

"Held up in customs for a week". 'least they weren't held up in customs for 19 quid like my litko tokens!

Looking forward to seeing the finished items myself (hinterty hint hint*)
