Just painted a couple of these nice models. The sculpting and details of elephants and crew are superb. They are quite heavy too!

The "Silver Shields" are polished A&A shields; the Alexander the Great cameo on the other shields are LBMS transfers. Both models are based on Litko 80mm X 50mm plywood bases.

Thanks to Keith and Aventine for their fine product and customer service. Regards, Dean

Lovely work Dean. I have a couple of the armoured Seleucid ellies in the painting queue, totally agree on the quality of the models as well as your comments about Keith and Aventine.
Cheers,
Paul.

Been watching progress – the finished product is excellent. Why not post a copy on the Aventine web site as well?

Agree with you about the Aventine service – looking forward to their Pyrrhics.

Will certainly have a download of your thumpies as a guide when I get around to my Aventine elephants – I did like the javelinmen, must check if they are the ones that came with my models.

Cheers

Garry

Thanks, Gents. Yes, I think I'll post some of the pics on the Aventine site. Regards, Dean

I'm doing a pair of those now, myself. I hope they come out as nice!

Superb painting Dean! I really like the Aventine and 1st Corps elephants but the 1st Corps ones are quite a bit bigger.

Love your painting on these Dean. Bronze is exellent. Should add these on WAB gallery. Once again exellent.

You've done a superb job on those. I particularly like the saddle cloths, but the 'whole package' oozes quality.

I think the only 'negative' thing I'd say is that the photos are a little dark and don't show your painting off to best advantage.

DeanMoto06 Jul 2010 5:04 a.m. PST

Thank you all. Phil: I do appreciate your critique of the quality of the photos – they are darker than I expected (overcast all day yesterday). I might try it again on a better day. Warm Regards, Dean

Beautiful sculpts and great paintwork. Surely that is a portrait of Antiochus and not Alexander?

Dean, great work on the nellies!!!!! Mike Adams

Ah, I was just corrected by Simon (Big Red Bat) on my blog that the "Silver Shields" are actually Vendel, not A&A. He's right, of course. I mixed the two makes up; serves me right for not doing proper research. Regards, Dean
