Hello guys, We are moving all of our domains to a new server host due to security issues on our old virtual machine. Our ISP got hacked by some Malaysian kids, who managed to get root privileges and we wanted to play it safe and migrate to a new secure machine. We can only do so much with a virtual server. Apart from my websites, I host several other large and very large sites including the largest wargaming forum in Poland and a strategy gaming portal to name a few. All of those require little tweaks to server / database settings operate correctly and display readable text instead of random gibberish. I just LOVE databases in different languages :D In short I hope to be able to finish all of the required work today or latest tomorrow and will post you a message here once we are back up online. Thanks, Piotr PS. Happy Independence Day friends ! Do you know that two famous Polish generals- Tadeusz Kosciuszko and Kazimierz Pulaski fought on American side in that war? Cheers ! Piotr |

if you cant get the above links try this. Shell out to a command prompt and type ipconfig /flushdns. There is a fair chance that you have the old IP cached on your PC. Easy Peasy |

Thanks for the July 4th shout-out Piotr, I knew abot Pulaski, but not the other fellow. From what I've heard, the Colonial Army owed alot of it's discipline and training to Pulaski. In Illinois (possibly the rest of the US), we have Pulaski day, and I live just off of Pulaski Street in Chicago! Lots of Polish Pride here In Chi-town! |

I knew abot Pulaski, but not the other fellow. Virtually every city in America has a street or road or bridge (or something) named after Kosciuszko, usually engineering feats because in American service he was a brilliant and very effective military engineer. (He was not so successful as a combat leader in the AWI, getting beaten once and bayonetted in the behind the other time!) In fact, he was crucial in helping General Greene defeat Cornwallis in the south. When he went back to Poland and served against the Russians as a straight up army commander, he did very well indeed, only to be let down by the King he served, who (probably wisely) realized that Russia's power was ultimately too great to resist. Sad fact: he willed the land the US gave him for his service after the war to be sold on his death and the proceeds to be used to buy slaves their freedom, for he was shocked and saddened by that institution when he saw it in the colonies during the war. Unfortunately, the man left in charge of his lands misappropriated them for his own use, and the proceeds were mostly gone, and on top of that judges kept invalidating his wills, so his land never went to buying a single slave's freedom. Napoleon had a dim view of Kosciuszko, but they were both egotists and apparently their personalities clashed. Then again, Tsar Paul didn't like him either. Perhaps his extreme sense of equality (and extremely high opinion of himself!) led despots to dislike him. Dzieki, Kosciuszko! A remarkable and romantic figure. |
