Looks like I got a long catch up reading list !!!

I'd like to add Dragonworld by Byron Preiss and J. Michael Reaves.

I also loved The Amber series, and the Elfstones of Shanara.

Stosstruppen02 Jun 2010 8:42 p.m. PST

The series I love to hate

Thomas Covenant

Never have I been so angry after reading a fiction book!

galvinm02 Jun 2010 10:12 p.m. PST

Conan, of course.

The Dragonlance series.

The Horseclans, by Robert Adams.

The Dozing Dragon02 Jun 2010 11:44 p.m. PST

Faerie Tale, Raymond E Feist

A second for 'Forgotten Beasts of Eld' one of my all time favorites.

Add 'Beauty' by Robin McKinley (she decided to revisit it, but I like the first go better).

The Magician Knight books by Gene Wolfe.

I may be able to think of something not mentioned tomorrow, many are already posted.

Captain's Fury by Jim Butcher
Princeps Fury by Jim Butcher
First Lord's Fury by Jim Butcher
Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind

Karellian Knight03 Jun 2010 4:38 a.m. PST

Assassin series by Robin Hobb

Spellsinger by Alan Dean Foster

Anything by Terry Pratchett

MechanicalHorizon03 Jun 2010 7:35 a.m. PST

"The Sword of Truth" series by Terry Goodkind.

I loved the books, but the TV adaptation was horrifically bad, and I applaud the decision by the network to axe the show.

I'd like to list a bunch of others, but my vote (even over LotR) would be:

The Once and Future King
by T.H. White

And I would like to re-nominate "Grunts".

Jeez…

And do the Barsoom novels count as fantasy?

If so,I would like to nominate them.

Richard Humm03 Jun 2010 10:56 a.m. PST

Another one I missed – The Castle of Iron by L.Sprague de Camp and Fletcher Pratt

The other Harold Shea books The Incompleat Enchanter and Wall of Serpents aren't novels, so they can't get a nomination.

E Murray03 Jun 2010 11:59 a.m. PST

The Well at the World's End by William Morris.

I thought Mary Gentles "Grunts " was very
entertaining and have read it several times.

It is actually my all time favorite after
LOTR and the Hobbit.

I have noticed before that it usually gets
knocked here on TMP and I have allways
been curious why?

Another vote here for Pratchett's Discworld series, although I've only read a few of them so far. Just started reading the second book in the series.

Another vote for Megan Whalen Turner's "The Thief" series.

Tanith Lee's "Kill the Dead" is still one of my all-time favourites, but mostly for nostalgic reasons.

Martin Rapier04 Jun 2010 12:44 p.m. PST

Earthsea trilogy.
