A second for 'Forgotten Beasts of Eld' one of my all time favorites. Add 'Beauty' by Robin McKinley (she decided to revisit it, but I like the first go better). The Magician Knight books by Gene Wolfe. I may be able to think of something not mentioned tomorrow, many are already posted. |

"The Sword of Truth" series by Terry Goodkind. I loved the books, but the TV adaptation was horrifically bad, and I applaud the decision by the network to axe the show. |

Another one I missed – The Castle of Iron by L.Sprague de Camp and Fletcher Pratt The other Harold Shea books The Incompleat Enchanter and Wall of Serpents aren't novels, so they can't get a nomination. |

I thought Mary Gentles "Grunts " was very entertaining and have read it several times. It is actually my all time favorite after LOTR and the Hobbit. I have noticed before that it usually gets knocked here on TMP and I have allways been curious why? Coabeous |

Another vote here for Pratchett's Discworld series, although I've only read a few of them so far. Just started reading the second book in the series. Another vote for Megan Whalen Turner's "The Thief" series. Tanith Lee's "Kill the Dead" is still one of my all-time favourites, but mostly for nostalgic reasons. |
