Hi guys, Other than TAG what companies can you recommend for doing Vietnam in 28mm? I'm never a big fan of websites as a guide – I prefer it from the horse's mouth, so to speak. My focus is a wide one and I will probably end up doing a bit of everything, so any guidance much appreciated. |

I am obviously open to being accused of being biased because I sell them, but I like Force of Arms, and use them myself. Bob. |

FreddBloggs beat me to "The Link". I find the AK-47, RPD, and M-60 on the TAG figures way to large to match the Baker Company and West Wind figures. If that's not a problem for you then go right ahead. I would add some Jungle Rot (old London War Room) figures. The VC/NVA with SKS, while small, match up quite well. Their other weapons seem quite small and their newer lines of figures (ARVN) are closer to true 25mm. Vince |

I have Force of Arms and Baker Company and I am pleased with both. Ed G. |

I like the Vietnam figures available from Battle Honors. They are listed as 25mm, but I found them to go well alongside West Wind, and be somewhat larger than the Eureka (which are also listed as 25mm). The Battle Honors VC and NVA appear slightly shorter and slimmer than the USA and USMC figures. Also, the weapons are sculpted more realistically (size wise) than you sometimes see. Chalfant |

I've got Westwind , FOA and TAG figures all of which work well together. I also have some of the new Eureka Civilians which look too small compared to the Westwind civilians. However the woman with the Cart holding a baby will work ok. I'm wondering if the Battle Honors figures would work as ARVN? as I've just been picking out some of the smaller Westwind figures for that purpose. |

The small range mentioned by Phil is growing steadily with some new releases due in a couple of weeks. A few painted Parkfield figures can be seen here mywargamingcorner.blogspot.com 28mm to eye level in an attempt to match in with other available ranges. Hopefully over the next few weeks I will be starting on some more. Over time I expect to be doing ARVN, Kit Carson scouts and more varieties of the main protagonists. |

Baker Co have two sets of ARVN with M16s that are very good. Say for 1968-75 period. If you really want pre-vietnamization with the M1 carbines, you mught have to use WW2 US with carbines and swap heads for bush hats. I'ld recommend Black Tree during one of their deals. |

I'm going to take issue with the Battle Honors figures. Some of the U.S. figures will work, however, the VC are just to small (weapons even more so). I thought about using them as very youthful local force VC, however there they seemed to small. I do like the idea of using WWII Marines as ARVN and did see a pack from Battle Honors with floppy hats that could do the trick. The Baker Company ARVN are not their best work. At least one figure stance in my platoon had a miscast head and required a head swap. The Eureka figures I have seen are also very small. For me there are two major sizes. Baker Company, West Wind, Tag, and FOA (based on what I have heard about FOA) are in 28mm. Eureka, Battle Honors, and Jungle Rot (London War Room ) are in true 25mm. There can be some mixing in the lines(as I have done with select LWR), however, the weapon scale needs to be taken into consideration when mixing. People are different sizes an AK-47 is not. The bottom line is, do what you want and if it's good enough for you then you have satisfied the only person who really counts. Vince

Baker company figures, are often much nicer in real life, than they photos might lead to you believe on their website. I am writing a rules set for 28mm vietnam gaming and have a good collection of their stuff. Also Force of arms figures are stunning and John also does a great range of vehicles too, though they are more tending to 1:60th..but his range is very good. |

I've just received the FOA Special Forces and VC Command. The former will fit in with the TAG range and the latter will fit in with the newer unreleased Eureka NVA/regular VC. Loads of detail on the FOA. Helen |
