11th Century Mediterranean does it for me. A nice variety of armies in combat with one another.

I'm also interested in 11th Century Britain.

I keep wanting to be interested in WotR, but the armies feel fairly bland to me.

basileus6627 May 2010 3:59 a.m. PST

1) Crusades (specially, Third Crusade)
2) Viking era.
3) Spanish Reconquista.

"I keep wanting to be interested in WotR, but the armies feel fairly bland to me"

That was my first thought when first investigating the WotR some 25+ years ago. Try Bosworth to start with.

Henry's army = Small core of English Veterans w/ French, Scotts, Breton & Welsh Mercenaries

Richard Small number of Veterans, Shire troops, probably some artillery and handgunes.

You also never know what the large bodies of troops under Percy or the Stanleys will do!

Ken, your list doesn't include the name "Norman" once. What kind of perverse brain-fade caused that omission? wink

1) Norman expansion (especially Norman conquest of England)
2) Early Crusades (especially first Crusade)
3) Hundred Years War
4) Dark Ages, Viking incursions
5) War of the Roses

I am always slightly surprised at how popular the later Burgundians are in gaming, given their abhorent historical record!
