They don't look too heavy so you probably won't need a scale. However, they look like they are 20mm Scale or 1:72 Size. My only complaint is that the set only shows one left-handed figure. Is he the only one in his right-mind? |

Made me laugh! Mind you, when I was young that is how mine looked – I well remember Mr Featherstone saying (to paraphrase) "get boxes of Airfix ACW in blue and grey – paint flesh, guns and hats – leave uniforms in plastic colour". Simpler times – and not necessarily bad for that, because it got me playing. My kids now worry so much about "Chapter approved" that they can never get units finished. Is that progress? |

It's a hobby. If the person enjoys what he does then screw everyone else IMO, including the Quality Nazis. |

I won't play with unpainted figures but will allow beginners to play with the part painted figures as you describe above. I usually find that slowly but surely more conventional painting spreads like a contagion through the army. ;-p Fatman |

Ummm, why was Allen DH'd for this? Limpia hornos is the name of the oven cleaner: link The figures were undoubtably improved (and prepped ready for painting). Where was this trolling? |
| Static Tyrant | 26 May 2010 5:57 a.m. PST |
Geoff, I suspect the point is that he (Allen) was probably taking the out of one of our forum members who likes to post links to somewhatpainted 1:72 plastic figures. This gentleman I'm thinking of is often quite enthusiastic about it as he does. An earlier post of Allen's today was read by some as a dig at another forum member, so maybe Bill just decided to read the worst intentions into his actions. Was Allen truly on a sarcastic rampage? We may never know. |

The 't' rule only says calling someone one, or otherwise trying to stir up trouble: TMP link I actually found the topic quite useful and am wondering if I can get this stuff in the UK, or if a similar UK-based brand will also work (or simply melt the figures). |
| Brummie Lad | 26 May 2010 6:42 a.m. PST |
Does anyone know if the oven cleaner just works on enamels, or will it work on Acrylic as well? There has to be an easier/simpler way of stripping paint from minis

I would have expected it to melt the plastic, hence my interest. |

Of course Allen was on a sarcastic rampage – he has been for the last several decades, and it's possibly his most endearing trait

picture This is oven cleaner. I don't see why anyone would be DHed for mentioning this. Once we begin getting DHed for obscure references it seems a bit ridiculous but I should stay out of it before I end up in the clink as well for trolling, bumping, igniting, jostling, raunching, ruffling or any other term that is in fashion. |

Come on guys follow the money trail. He posted this thread to the plastics board as a slam on the other threads. Pushed a bit too hard it seems. There is a fine line between being funny and being a jerk. Guess the Ed drew the line and some in the DH crossed it. VR James Mattes |
| Steve Johnson | 26 May 2010 9:34 a.m. PST |
My guess is a nose-out-of-joint whiner saw it, whined loudly, and the Editor gave him (misguidedly in my opinion) a red card. I often wonder where many of these people think there is a right to "not be offended". Allen may be sarcastic, but he's helped me out with his postings on several occasions, and have no problems with him, no matter how sarcastic he gets (but maybe that's a comment on me). Steve |

What i don't get is if you don't like plastic figures, why do you feel the need to go on the Plastic board and make fun of those who do. Seems kind of juvenile. |
| Cincinnatus | 26 May 2010 6:33 p.m. PST |
It's his entire body of work on the subject that got him there. He violates the spirit of this site in at least half his posts but is usually smart enough to stay within the letter of the law. In this case as James Mattes stated he must have crossed the line. So unless you've followed his long running and intrusive dialog on the plastics world, don't complain that his one post shouldn't put him there. |
| Klebert L Hall | 27 May 2010 4:03 a.m. PST |
I would have expected it to melt the plastic, hence my interest. It's almost certainly just lye. Unless the delta heat of combination with water gets too high, lye won't hurt plastic. -Kle. |

It's his entire body of work on the subject that got him there. Meh. Allen and Bill are just having a ing contest. Either that, or Bill needs to lower his ISP costs temporarily. With Allen and John in the DH, there will be half as many posts per day

Milhouse | 29 May 2010 8:37 a.m. PST |
While there are a wide variety of plastic paint jobs out on the internet, there are some which I would match against any metal masterpiece. There is a young fellow in the Netherlands named Benno who has done some fabulous work. Look at the box illustrations for the Zvezda figs. Top notch. If you want to build large armies at a reasonable price plastic is tough to beat. Plastic figs for the most part have more realistic proportions too (vs oversized hands and telephone pole rifles often seen on larger metal figs). Having said all that, I collect both. I have friends and family who like different figures than I do. I know Double G is much more biased toward metal than I am. Neither of us feel the need to make fun of other's taste or paint jobs and certainly not on a public forum. BTW, a lot of those 'subpar' paint jobs are by young people just getting started in the hobby. They need encouragement if we want to keep recruiting people |
