Please note the tall cork bark mountain among these photos:

QUESTION:

I know I can buy cork tiles at floor tile stores and other places that sell office and school supplies. I also know that one can buy pine bark mulch at landscape nurseries.

But, where does one buy cork BARK?

Thanks.

Dan
PS. I know that this was done for a Vietnam game but, if you imagine it without any buildings or vehicles, I think it could inspire a fantastic gaming table for a Lost World, pirate island, or even "Avatar" game. Don't you think?

That bark would save me considerable time, instead of having to contour the sides of all these cork tiles:

Dude…there were like 300 pictures to mull through…I didn't see anything that said "cork bark"…there was a mound of what looked like bark chip shingles…was that it?

Better still…why?

There are other barks that do not cost as much and may be in your backyard per say.

PS
I was searching typing while you typed LOL

I believe that the Last Square may carry some.

In Briain Mode; Railway shops usually have it, but have others have said other (free) bark may be as good.

I have bought cork bark from wholesale florists in the UK, huge pieces and much cheaper than model railroad supplies.

I have also seen it for sale in stores (in the UK) that sell tropical reptiles!

Aquarium/terrarium shops around here often sell it, like Dampfpanzerwagen said.

I got mine in the reptile section at Petsmart.

Hey
go to a store, it doesn't grow on trees you know…
(satire off)
Actually, home depot carries it I thought.

Am I the only one who forgot about cork bark and was fascinated by that Vietnam game?

What a great pictoral battle report; what beautiful terrain. What cool toys.

I do believe the mountain picture he is refereing to is picture number 181, 204, 217, 227, 228, 234, 238 etc. Really nice effect, suspect the inside of hill / mountain pieces are styrofoam. Last Photo number 254 shows several of the larger pieces looking down the length of the table.

Alfrik,

That's the one! I just love that exotic stone-like texture.

Thanks.
