Hmmmm. 1) Horse and Musket (1750's up to 1880-ish) 2) Early to mid-twentieth century (both World Wars and a few bits in between) 3) Dark Ages, although that doesn't really happen these days Now that I think about it, a year ago the order of the above would probably have had the 20th century stuff at the top of the list. Definite shift in priorities/interest over the past 12 months, mainly AWI and Black Powder-related. |

Great War Marlburian Arthurian Dark Ages I can't justifiably give broader periods than these particular conflicts. I couldn't write 18th Century because I'm not interested in the Seven years war or AWI at all. Ditto Ancients – I enjoy Dark Ages Arthurian games, but have no interest in, say, the Crusades or Assyrians. If this is to be a poll I think 'periods' will need to be broken down a lot more to appease us pedants. |

Thanks to the wonders of Attention Deficit Disorder I'll play just about anything. However, if you're going to force me to pick three only, here goes: 1. Marlburian. Reason: it's a very colorful period, relatively easy to paint up, and cavalry is very potent if used properly. 2. World War 2. Reason: it's extremely popular, and I love combined arms. 3. Ancients up until the end of Rome. Reason: it's a fun challenge because success or failure usually depends on your initial plan and deployment. |

| Flat Beer and Cold Pizza | 23 Apr 2010 9:42 p.m. PST |
@Mad Guru: that's not a bad idea. But there are so many factors involved in selecting a period. It's really a very subjective thing. Perhaps a poll would be the best bet for this. |

Ancients (WAB) Dark Ages (WAB) Colonial (Bluddy all of it, start to finish, using Blackpowder, Sharpe's Practice, WAB, Empire of Liberty, Contemptible Little Armies, The Sword and the Flame, Thrilling Expeditions, Rugged Adventures, In the Dark heart of Africa and any other set, historical or pulp.) |

Ancients American Revolution (Not really 18th Century) Samurai (Yea, not really any of the choices) American Revolution really has a different flavor than the standard 18th Century game. Samurai is more like fantasy or science fiction. Just weird enough to not really be any of the listed choices. |
