Shop Turkey Advancing "Got my copy last week. Basically went to site, joined as premium member, then ordered the rules. Prett easy." Anyone want to lay odds this guy's connected with our friend? Joined today? First post today? Happened to find this thread? Someone must have a bunch of money or some serious creds on the line to be using this much pressure in their sales pitch. Kinda reminds me of the last time I went looking for a used car,
or a politician looking to be bought.
just my opinion mind you. Will |

Anyone want to lay odds this guy's connected with our friend? Joined today? First post today? Happened to find this thread? Perhaps, but he did answer the question accurately. When their ancient rules came out that's what I had to do to get 'em. A somewhat bizarre requirement, but easy to do |

No fuz bun, I heard about this site from a posting on The War Event web site. After reading a few threads over here, I decided to sign up and wound up answered the dude's question. But hey I don't need to or have to explain myself to you, but just thought I'd mention the circumstances. It is interesting however to note what a warm welcome you extend to a newcomer. |

Wow! Thankfully I am not a TMPer but heard about this garbage & had to see for myself. Once again, it appears that Mr. Pitts is "spot on" with his description and comments about this site and it's members. See ya TMP! "I'll Pass" on this zoo |

I've not seen a brawl like this since the great Terry1956 "Lasalle" slag-off: Bwahahaha! Yeah, but don't you secretly love a good scrap, especially with intrigueing additional factor of trying to stay out of the DH! |

Wow!Thankfully I am not a TMPer but heard about this garbage & had to see for myself. Once again, it appears that Mr. Pitts is "spot on" with his description and comments about this site and it's members. See ya TMP! "I'll Pass" on this zoo Oh dear. You are aware what the term for this sort of thing is, aren't you? This certainly isn't helping the cause. The traditional Olde Worlde Newsgroup response goes thusly: "Don't bang your <insert body part here> on the door on the way out." Were this really a 'zoo', I'd have added lashings of profanity for good measure, so look and learn. |
Connard Sage | 08 Apr 2010 9:00 a.m. PST |
What a loss to TMP, I wonder if we'll ever recover? We'll let Bill decide on sockpuppeting and avoiding the DH, I think. |

Well I have not participated in the discussion. However, with an attitude like his, I decided to stifle Mr Garbage Hunter. So if he does come back I will not see what he said regardless. I have not stifled Mr Pitts, but the idea that he has gone to a 'fanboy' forum and trashed the TMP forum does seem to be a bit head scratching. It cannot help sales of his product to members on this site. So it would not expand his target group to a vital part of the historical gaming community. |
Allan Mountford | 08 Apr 2010 12:12 p.m. PST |
How do I get these rules? I have followed the link and I can't really see what to do. Also can you tell me what I get for the price. The money quoted seems very high for a pdf product. I presume it is a pdf of Empire V. The hard copy runs to 196 pages with seven reference sheets. Copies turn up on Ebay from time to time. I bought a used copy last year for 15USD including postage. An un-used copy went on Ebay recently for a similar price. - Allan |

Years ago, when the boxed version with the French flag on the cover came out, our group ordered a case directly from Scott's supplier,
which at the time was himself I think. I don't remember which edition that was but I'm fairly sure I, or other members of that original group have a couple unopened sets if anyone is truly interested. As I remember that set didn't play that well either
but that's just my personal opinion. Will |

Lol. Shop Turkey Advancing's only zone of interest is Fantasy but he just happened to make his first post in Naps forum and then to tell us about buying Napoleonic rules?
Once again, it appears that Mr. Pitts is "spot on" with his description and comments about this site and it's members. That was the problem. He already had that attitude and brought it in with him then overreacted at people right from the start. Then it turned into a dog fight. :o) |

I have Locked the accounts involved, but will leave the posts above as an example of what to expect from The War Event. |

I do hope their obvious dilemma works out for them
there is, after all, apparent desperation in their approach to selling Empire and Stars 'n' Bars. I have appreciated Scott's work in the past and sincerely hope he and Todd are not involved in this embarrassment. Will |

They have different IP addresses. It is interesting to note, however, that Shop Turkey Advancing's IP address goes back to an entity called Bowden Insurance. |

Wow, a quick search pulls up the following: SCOTT BOWDEN PRESIDENT at BOWDEN INSURANCE AGENCY INC/AUTO INSURANCE WHOLESALERS Dallas/Fort Worth Area link If this is our Shop Turkey friend, this is a real sad situation. Both his websites are the same DNS: link out of Grand Prairie, TX. He uses AOL for email. See what the logs show. I guess it all depends where he posted from, work or home and so on. But you know the drill. If his IP from the post comes up in the same area in which he lives

WOW!!! I was interested in this product initially, but now, after seeing how the vendor behaved here, I wouldn't stop to spit on the product if I saw it lying in the gutter, much less pay good money for it. This sort of awful behavior on The War Event's part seems equal parts laughable, pitiable, and reprehensible, and after reviewing the whole thread, I don't think he has anyone to blame but himself. |
TwoGunBob | 08 Apr 2010 7:48 p.m. PST |
I did offer to run a couple events at Texicon. I figured bygones were bygomes with the whole Skirmish thingy. I was advised they're all full up with games which is no big deal, still going to show up to play but if this is the face forward Texicon's "Miniatures Magnate" is putting out I think I'll just keep Skirmish as my only local convention I'll be attending. Just think that the attitude will bleed over too much for me to have a good time. |

"Quick quick,

I've not seen a brawl like this since the great Terry1956 "Lasalle" slag-off: TMP link" And the interesting link between the two is that they are both prominently featured on The War Event: link Thread started Feb 18, four days after the announcement that Empire will be for sale on The War Event. No conflict of interest there. Poor taste for the author of one set of rules to be critical of another competing set, imo. In my entire life I've only ever played Empire. I recently pulled out the nappys and was going to get back into it after a long layoff. I'm so disappointed. |

Dasher | 08 Apr 2010 9:07 p.m. PST |
I dunno
I saw at least three atteempts at apology and rapprochement by Mr. Pitts, all of whch were followed by many, many nasty, sniping, insulting and provocative attacks that seemed (to me) to have no purpose but to conmtinue the unpleasantness. I can't help but wonder if maybe thewrong person was dawghoused in all this mess
|
Pope Falconflower | 08 Apr 2010 9:19 p.m. PST |
Nope – the correct person was dawghoused
|
Dasher | 08 Apr 2010 9:21 p.m. PST |

GreatScot72 | 08 Apr 2010 9:25 p.m. PST |
Yes, Mr. Pitts did give a sort of apology, but it was so qualified and closely followed by more aggressive and insulting behavior, I doubt it should really be considered any kind of real olive branch. |
trailape | 08 Apr 2010 9:25 p.m. PST |
Well, I guess it all stems from The War Event (TWE) considering himself "as something of a Big Deal, with an extensive library of leather bound books, and smelling of rich mahogany". He probably has a dog called "Baxter, his little English Gentle-Man" BTW, does he live in San Diego, (which BTW, is German for a whales Vagina)? In the end this just turned into a bit of a "Bear Fight", and he didn't have his head on swivel, (which is what's needed in a vicious cock fight)! |
trailape | 08 Apr 2010 9:27 p.m. PST |
