That's right; EMPIRE 5th edition and Stars*n*Bars are available once again, and in pdf format.

I'm confused, what is a User CP?

Do I have to register and pay a subscription to your site and them order and get another year sub to the site?

How does one who is not a member order if they want?

quidveritas04 Apr 2010 4:42 p.m. PST

He should make Empire 2nd edition available. Bet he sells more of them.

The War Event04 Apr 2010 4:56 p.m. PST

rmcaras,

You have already asked that question, and if you bothered to read the posts, you would already know that your question has been answered.

Quid,

Empire 2nd is coming.

CPBelt04 Apr 2010 5:04 p.m. PST

You have already asked that question, and if you bothered to read the posts, you would already know that your question has been answered.

Ouch! That remark calls for pistols at 12 paces!

The War Event04 Apr 2010 5:13 p.m. PST

Our apologies, but when the question has already been asked and answered directly, and the same question is asked again, it makes us wonder what the intent of the question is.

Again, and in simple English, both rules sets are available to Registered Users (becoming a Registered User is free, ie… does not cost anything) per instructions listed in the post.

A User CP is explained in basic English in the post and on the site; and for those that have difficulty understanding the English language, there are even pictures here:

Old Contemptibles04 Apr 2010 5:25 p.m. PST

If this is any indication as to how you treat your customers, I think I will pass on your offer.

The War Event04 Apr 2010 5:47 p.m. PST

Well 'rallynow', whomever you might be, it is doubtful you were ineterested to begin with.

Your only reason for you making a post at all was because on TMP you can post with complete anonimity.

:-)

Defiant04 Apr 2010 6:02 p.m. PST

careful "The War Event" you are not doing your purpose any good here by responding like this. To me it looks like you are just building animosity within the ranks of prospective buyers!!

Also, it appears that any animosity or critisism towards Empire is forbidden on this website thewarevent.com/forums

I do understand this but coming here and reacting as you are with potential customers does no good for your cause.

PaintsByNumbers04 Apr 2010 6:09 p.m. PST

I'm interested in reading about Casus Belli

But when I enlarge the font so its big enough to be legible, the margins also widen, so now the lines extend off the edge of my screen, so are equally invisible unless I keep scrolling side to side.

Can you fix your HTML so that doesn't happen?

aecurtis Fezian04 Apr 2010 6:16 p.m. PST

Grey box. *Much* better.

"The War Event"

Take a breath buddy, you are coming off really pretty hostile.

The War Event04 Apr 2010 6:31 p.m. PST

Shane,

Thanks for your input. You will find at The War Event that there are certain rules of conduct. Members are expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner, and you will find that we have no issue with anyone making comments or giving input that is done in an adult manner, quite unlike what we see on many web sites.

PaintbyNumbers, what can I say. To date, you are the first person to ask about this. My eyesight is not that good and I have no problem. We simply do not see an issue with it.

CPBelt04 Apr 2010 7:10 p.m. PST

As for pistols at 12 paces; we can only wish!

It's my solution for all modern disputes. Bring back dueling. Andrew Jackson would be proud. :-)

Just my "humorous" way of saying that your reply was a bit abrasive, Greg, and to relax. Now it's time for some 'service recovery,' which is not going well so far.

S&B is not my thing, but I know a fellow who drools over it. That's why I checked this thread.

Zagloba04 Apr 2010 7:20 p.m. PST

That's alright, you should have seen the stink when I suggested that maybe people wouldn't want to pay $10 USD to join their club and have the privilege of then paying $30 USD for a pdf when most pdf purchases are of the 'Why not its only $20' type. True believers only need apply.

hey War Event, sorry you feel you directly answered my question….if you did I didn't see it. Sometimes I lose track of previous threads that may touch on the same topic where you did answer my question. Sorry, but I do.

But you certainly didn't answer any of the ones I asked in THIS thread. You could have simply referenced that thread as the source of the answer with a link to help the unwashed masses like me to actually access the process to purchase the product. A simple link and a cheery "here ya go, look forward to your order"…instead of the suspicious malevolence… "makes us wonder why" [who is the "us" or is that just like a royal "we"?] the answer's real simple; I had lost track of the previous thread. Simple as that.

Like what is a user CP? Simple question, probably took you longer to slag me in a private email than just to explain it.

Heaven forbid you would actually provide customer service to help a customer buy your product.

Well, its true, some people are in business in spite of themselves. I think you are in that category. And I can see by the number of posts and the stifles you already have you were at the top of your "Win friends and influence people" class.

I've met Scott Bowden on several occasions over nearly 30 years. A nicer gentlemen you could not find. I'm sorry he is relying on someone of your temperament to market his products. Hope he sees this thread. I wonder how successful Scot would have been as an insurance agent if he slagged his customers for daring to even think of asking a question twice? No doubt he answered them countless times and has the customers to prove it.

rallynow, you are correct, now, it isn't worth MY effort to attempt to purchase anything from the war event "whoever you are"…that's the pot calling the kettle black.

Allen you are correct, one grey box coming right up!

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. so much better.

The War Event04 Apr 2010 7:54 p.m. PST

Mr. Caras,

I'm sorry you feel the way you obviously do and please forgive me if you feel I have been unjust to you in any way.

I don't know how to answer your question any better than what you will find at this link:

This is pretty basic stuff.

I don't know how to answer your question any better than what you will find at this link:

He was simply asking what it meant…

CP stands for "Control Panel"…

That's all you needed to say really.

This is pretty basic stuff.

What may be "Pretty basic stuff" for one person may not be for another…Never assume, it's not good.

nsolomon9904 Apr 2010 8:32 p.m. PST

Hmmm … sounds like a pretty prickly bunch.

Dont know what that will mean when some noobie starts needing some clarifications on rules points.

I was intially interested in ths thread heading. Might think again about getting involved.

fuubar04 Apr 2010 8:45 p.m. PST

dear war event, you've done yourself no favor imho, nor have you done the cause of empire's renewal much good with the price of the way it's being handled.

thanks anyway, fubar

Jerry Lucas04 Apr 2010 9:10 p.m. PST

I'll be passing on this……….

Demaratos04 Apr 2010 9:54 p.m. PST

I will pass as well.

Maxshadow04 Apr 2010 9:55 p.m. PST

I've never had the chance to play Empire but always had some sort of guilty feeling in the back of my mind saying I really should. :oP
Now the chance to own the rules has come up but a legalistic mine field has been layed out in front. Hope they end up on EBay some time.

"rmcaras,You have already asked that question, and if you bothered to read the posts, you would already know that your question has been answered."

Whatever happened on a previous thread you should take note of how bad this looks to people reading this one.

Someone reasking a question is actually quite a good thing. You could have provided the same information on this thread too, thus speading the info.

Whether the info is on your site or not is moot. As consumers we are bombarded with products and advertising every day. You should be taking every chance to provide this information easily, not expect people to search your site before daring to ask questions.

sorry hadt to comment as this thread was painful to read :)

docdennis196805 Apr 2010 5:08 a.m. PST

is this attitude for real?? maybe just an attention getter method! If so it has worked! Good luck to you sir!

AU Cav05 Apr 2010 6:26 a.m. PST

Unfortunately it is for real. When it was originally announced on the Empire Yahoo group and was met with resistance and a feeling of betrayal, the admin from that forum attacked everyone without merit nor mercy. I believe the original deal was 25 for the pdf and 10 for the recurring sub, which is normally 15 but offered at a reduced price for all of the Empire lovers. Anyone who disapproved of the subscription was deemed a fake Empire fan.

Of particular humor was the claim that desenters hid behind anonymous user names and they did not allow it on their forums, that you had show your real name by rule. Yet, the admin who originally posted the message that Empire was available (Jupiter, I believe) did not have his name listed. Smelt of refuse to me. And a money grab by a forum struggling to exist for reasons that are obvious.

The saddest part is that us true Empire fans who have been searching for the rules for the longest time would have gladly paid Scott directly the entire amount.

I love the smell of napalm in the morning.

Defiant05 Apr 2010 7:50 a.m. PST

I just cannot believe Scott is part of this website…he should run and disassociate himself from the whole thing before he gets muddy.

Ken Portner05 Apr 2010 8:51 a.m. PST

I have no axe to grind, no horse in this race, no dog in this hunt.

But as a purely disinterested party, I can say honestly that consdering Warevent's belligerent attitude I'd certainly think twice before buying anything from him or his company.

Rich Bliss05 Apr 2010 9:08 a.m. PST

I'm interested in the Ancients rules. Does anyone know of an independent review. They look rather complicated from the sneak peeks on the site and I'd like to get an opinion from soemone who wasn't part of the design team.

thin skinned and snarky is an interesting combination

I am interested in looking at Empire. My issue would be they seem expensive for a PDF Download and I would be buying for interest sake.

Not sure about other people but when looking at rules what interests me is…..the rules. What a bunch of people who take themselves far to seriously (on both sides) does not seem to change the rules in any way.

Life is full of bad sales people and bad shopers. I will let the product sway me.

Clay the Elitist05 Apr 2010 10:24 p.m. PST

Hah! It's The Incredible Mr. Pitts!

Welcome back. Good luck with Texicon.

Well, that went well. How NOT to announce the re-release of a set of rules. University Marketing Faculties should study this thread.

Fred Cartwright06 Apr 2010 3:32 a.m. PST

Empire I know, but what's Stars *n* Bars?
