Absolutely amazing
what mixture af figures did you use? I recognize some Foundry figs. |
Demaratos | 20 Mar 2010 7:31 p.m. PST |
The figures for the Natives include Foundry, Perry Muslims, London War Room, Castaway Arts and some GW Al Muktar Desret Dogs ( see the commander on the army standard base). The Elephants are a mix of Foundry and London War Room with Some Bears Den elephant heads. Europeans include Crusader Miniatures, Foundry and Front Rank. The Sepoys are nearly all Parkfield Miniatures, with one unit of 1st Corp. Artillery pieces are from Redoubt, London War Room and Old Glory. Gun crews are Foundry and London War Room. |

This is s project I have been collecting for a whbile. Haven't even started to paint whatever is in my closet. I thought Parkfield minis were true 25mm? Do thye fit fine with teh rest? |
Demaratos | 20 Mar 2010 7:59 p.m. PST |
The Parkfield fit quite well, I think, with Crusader French and Brit officers. |
Demaratos | 20 Mar 2010 8:09 p.m. PST |
But the officers are slightly taller. The muskets are the same size for both ranges if I recall. |

WOW !! That is an part of the SYW I am interested in. If you can in the future post some pictures of the individual troop units, so I could get a better look. I would really appreciate it. Maybe you could give a brief write up about the specific units you've created also. As I mentioned I have an interest in this era but find detailed information hard to come by, especially since I want to create a French force. I have some the same figures and have not been able to decide on how to start painting some of them. Your photos may provide the inspiration I need. Thank You very much for sharing your fantastic force. |

Frankss, I hope to do so in the next week or so. I am actually after someone to do the photos properly. My mates have let me down so far : ( |

Now that takes the term "colourful period" to its utmost. This is absolutely fascinating! Such a combination of traditional European and exotic Indian. Roly |

Lovely buildings. Now I am going to have to shove my Carthaginian elephants to one side and finish that unit of Indian war elephants that have been staring at me accusingly from the shelf for so long! |

Well Dave, You've managed to "wow" me with your project. Of course, I knew that you were working on it, but I had no idea that you were so far along with it and that it was so stunning. Too bad that you can't swim over for the SYWA Con this week. BTW, Nanette will be doing some photos to send to you soon. Herb |

The defunct London War Room had a rich 'India' range ; does somebody heard of another manufacturer resurrecting it, as the Dayton Painting Consortium (RSM95) took up the Spanishs, and Brigade Games the Parroom Station? (Btw O Venerated Editor, why is the Dayton Painting Consortium deprived of a link in its entry among the manufactures?) Ah, and does somebody remember who was making the "Khmer Maiden Guards riding horses in Dragon armor" in 25mm? Two different manufacturers at least. I'm sure they would look good in such 'alternate' India: according the historical exemples of India, precisely, and the Ottomans, cavalry in 'archaic' armor can well appear in 'exotic' 18th C. armies; and, women being generally more petite then men, the difference in scale would not be embarrassing

Demaratos, Where did you get the main standard bearer on horseback with chain mail? Alos what rules do you plan to use?
