Out of curiosity, what are the factions in A Very British Civil War?

Surferdude17 Mar 2010 1:41 p.m. PST

My take is:
A Very British Civil War is based on the idea that Edward refused to abdicate, married Wallis Simpson and thus called the governments bluff … non of the parties would form a Government so Edward got an ex MP and friend Oswald Mosley (founder of the British Union of Fascists) to form a Government, thus Britain became fascist run. This of course triggered a series of events resulting in Civil War.
The major factions would be:
BUF
Communist backed workers factions
Anglican Militia – the armed faction of the CE who oppose the Royals and their BUF puppet government.
Royalists of various forms.
Parlimentarian factions who oppose the BUF government and the Royals.

Of course in the ensuing troubles anyone with money to set up a private army and who have a cause add to the fun!

SO if you can think of a plausible reason then its in … the whole thing is being overseen by gents on the Gentlemen's Wargame Parlour and by the 'source books' by Solway Crafts … quite an intriguing concept.

Sounds like the perfect scene in which to find offshoots of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade, Rick Blain, and other soldiers of fortune combatting the rise of fascism.

On a side note, as many of the 1930's fascist movements had a representative color shirt (Brownshirts=Nazis, Blackshirts=Italian, Goldshirts=Mexico, Silvershirts=US, Blueshirts=Irish) what might the antifascists choose as their defining characteristic? "Skins"? But I guess "skins vs. shirts" hadn't been a cultural item at that era.

Arm bands are very popular for those armies not possessing uniforms.
