I recently acquired a (largish) collection of unpainted 1/300th ww1 aircraft. There are two or three of almost everything NAVWAR/ H&R makes for French, German and British aircraft. I'd like to get these things painted up and on the table.

What sources should I seek out to do that?

Thanks,
Mike

I think I stumbled on the answer to this one myself but more input is always appreciated…

Two inexpensive sources are the Squadron "In Action" books from Squadron Shop, and the Osprey Aces series.
The Osprey Aces books have about 48 or so plates, while the Squadron have about 10.

The Aces books are, naturally, into biographies and unit histopries, while the "In Action" books go into history of the planes, and their development. I recommend both.

All of those listed above but I particularly enjoy the Osprey books and have almost all of the WW1 aviation titles. There is a CD Rom available which I'm told has just about every know profile on it. I think Dom of Dom's Decals has a copy so he may be along to advise.

Actually you can do an internet search for models. Just to a search for the aircraft type, "model", and put in a scale -- ex: Spad XIII, model, 1/48. The larger scales are often more detailed than what you want but this isn't a bad thing.

You get stuff like this:

There are all kinds of builds out there. Just be careful and confirm the color scheme after you find one you like. Not all internet model builds are 100% accurate.

Wow, I'd love to know more about that CD. Anyone know what the name is and/or any info on it?
