Looking for a good detailed account of the battles, forces, and tactics used by both sides. Maps with military movements a plus. Just what is available out there?

Two suggestions:

First, go to Stonebooks.com and browse the subjects.

Second, try the official US Army "Fall of the Philippines" at link

for the maps if nothing else.

Is there any mention of the 4th Marines in any of these books?

"Is there any mention of the 4th Marines in any of these books?"

Page #528 of the " The Fall of the Philippines" has some information on them and their use on Corregidor. And on pages# 12 and 79 in " The Battle of Bataan,A Complete History". Robert

The 'green book' has some things on the 4th. They weren't engaged on Bataan (well, not the regiment as a whole) so they don't really appear in "Bataan: Our Last Ditch".

However you can find a lot about the 4th Marines on line with just a bit of Google-fu.

Corregidor – American Alamo by Morris.

Great book that covers all of the Philippines campaign.

The U.S. Marine History Office wrote FROM SHANGHAI TO CORREGIDOR, which is in two parts on their website as pdf files:
