After messing around with card templates which didn't quite work I have now decided to go with a straight paint job on the Hotz mat and reproduce the Downtown Map by hand. I picked the hardest area first as the the water network is quite hectic around Haiphong. A couple of WIP shots can be found here

The latest aircraft update is of a pair of EKA-3B whales for the USN. (only one shown) I haven't got the time to do the shear (reverse italic) for the fin or the Modex numbers but otherwise quite happy with the outcome of this model. It needs a dullcote spray to finish.

Tom has suggested I pull my finger out and get an EA-6A done which might be fun but Dan has started my mind thinking about doing some decals for the Kittyhawk (ala from the "On Yankee Station" book)

You're aging yourself with the title of scenario D-8.

Very nice map. I'm going to have to make one, but I'm going more from "Downtown" into "Thud Ridge", so I'm not sure yet what my final map will look like (smile).

I'll post some pictures soon of my aircraft I've done for the Kitty Hawk. No where as nice as CAG 19, but his use of homemade decals inspired me to try and make some also and they seem to work.

Did a game last weekend that went well as we're just started using "Thud Ridge" and the learning curve is fairly sharp. Not that the rules are difficult, but there are a lot of nuances that one must think about and master.

Wish there was a group, board or group for folks with an interest in "Thud Ridge", "Downtown" & "Evasive Victory" to discuss them.

CAG 19 has a nice blog, but it is not all that interactive (sorry guy), or exposed to the gaming public.

No probs Dan,

I have a spare Yahoo Group that can be used.

Ive played both and they meet different needs. Thud Ridge is a quick game with a high fun element, Downtown is a lot heavier and needs a lot more of work but both provide an excellent game

Beautiful map. I have been wanting to do one similar for Battle of Britain. You have given me some great inspiration.

Thanks

There is the forum on Consimworld under the heading of Cold War where Downtown and Elusive Victory get discussed every day. The discussions are actually pretty interesting as they deal with tactics, aricraft, etc., and the designer joins in as well.

Great looking map! I see the ribbing I gave you over the A-5 tankers came to fruition! They look great.

I'm still slowly working up packages from the Bonnie Dick for early Thud Ridge action. Lots of A-4s and F-8s… One of these days I also need to get ahold of a printer that can do decals so I can churn out some appropriate ones, rather than the hideous hand painting of tail codes I've been hacking away at.

And Lou Reed and company aren't all THAT old. In fact, I predict a resurgence of their popularity soon. (at least on MY iPod!)

Speaking of, I recently heard Nico's version of All Tomorrows Parties. God awful… no wonder they asked her to leave the group.

Darbs,
I have passed out the off cuts of my decals to a few of the Yahoo group. Your more than welcome to what is left from the last print run (it just takes me 3 months to remember to post them!).

Can't remember if I posted these before or not

Brilliant!!!! Those look incredible!

Ok, I'm going to have to hit you up for some stuff, down the line a little ways after i get FNG2 all written and done…

CAG 1918 Mar 2010 1:37 a.m. PST

Darbs,
I have a couple of A-4s in my spares box so don't mind knocking a decal set up for the Bonnie Dick (if its easy LOL) for my birds as well.

Which cruise were you looking at doing and any squadron from the Air Wing in particular. I have the osprey but she was a pretty busy ship in the early years.
