I found a neat set of decals for a 1/72 Tu-160 that I might use for another project, but I'd like to know what they say…

WOW, what a plane!

D'you mean in the sense that the entire swing-wing arms race (see: F-111B) probably contributed substantially to the eventual bankrupting of the Soviet Union? =) It is a nice-looking aircraft, one with which, in tandem with Shipwreck cruise missiles, I've sunk the Nimitz repeatedly in Harpoon.

Translation isn't really possible, as they are all proper names, but I would transliterate them as follows, from top to bottom:

Pavel Taran
Ivan Yarygin
Il'ya Muromets
Aleksandr Molodchiy
Vasiliy Reshetnikov

All the best,

John.

? swing-wings aren't all that complex. Russians have always had good engineers, and swing-wings are a simple(r) solution to getting both good low-speed handling and high-speed handling out of one airframe. They are a bit heavy, but what can you do?
