Hi all,
FWIW we have been looking again at Downtown as a mini's rule set (it being a board game normally).

We have now decided that actually the best way (in our opinion) to play this with minis is to use the Solo rules as a basis.

One of the pair sets up the DRV defences, the other plans the US package. Both play the US as a cooperative game with the DRV setterupper chosing the choices for DRV in the most disadvantagous manner to the US.

This means that the toys are on the table throughout the game. It also means that we could probably demo/participate this later in the year bringing in players as element commanders (Iron Hand, CAP, Strike Package, EW etc) and leave the DRV as an umpire/solo generated force. The planning bit is set up for the scenario.

As an aside, and as a result of where we have got to, is that I have also been back to the painting table (thanks Commander Roj) and knocked up some EKA-3Bs link
remembering these are 1/600th aircraft I have had to cut some corners. Gunbird is the man with the skill at adding bits to these beauties but they look about right on the table

The thanks should be all on my side! I look forward to seeing that Downtown minis demo at a show sometime…

How did you make your homemade decals?

If you haven't already you should look into Elusive Victory as well. Quite a change from Downtown in that both sides are doing strikes and CAP at the same time.

As to home made decals, we had a conversation a while back on how to make your own. I put up a quick guide here

The EV rules use the DT engine as the basis and are similar. I was looking at how to do this with miniatures as opposed to the boardgame so the mechanisms had to be altered otherwise you never have a model pers e on the table. I like the EV concept but and not keen on the all french air wing prior to 1973 for the israelis. Probaly something to with wanting to paint things and that the electron war was a very vietnam thing and has always been an interest.

The Falklands makes a great scenario for the DT system. Short scenarios with lots of action and no pre-plotting.
