I know that someone used to produce one of these. I recall seeing it on eBay. Does anyone know where I can get a 15mm Alamo in resin or some otehr material. I would like to avoid a paper model but will go that route if nothing more durable is available.

Thanks

Terry

When I asked as of 18 months ago your options were paper or scratch-build. AFAIK no one has released one since then. But if you sculpt it, I'll buy one!

I will make you one out of foamboard or wood. LMK I have pics of how it would potentially look.

Many moons ago the guys at Frontier had a 15mm setup that they took on the road. IIRc it was 6x8 giving @ 18inches of table in all directions from the mission

what would such an Alamo cost?

Remember, the famous bell curve at the top of the chapel was added after the battle.

I have scratchbuilt an exact scale 15mm Alamo compound using all the latest research. I did it up in Photoshop (starting with an actual picture of the Chapel – removing the bell tower parapet, of course), then glues it to balsa sheets, cut it out, glued it together and based it on 4'X2' boards. Our group has played the Alamo using it on a couple occasions and it has turned out great. I have all the Texians at 1 to 1 and the Mexicans at 2 to 1. What a blast.

The last game we played in February, the Texians destroyed the Light Column, battered another Column but lost when the Mexicans overcame the northwest wall and came storming in.

If anyone wants some pics, let me know.

Blue Moon has just released one!

at 275 a bit pricey (although if you are a member of the Old Glory Army you caqn take off 40%, membership is 50.00 a year but this one item will still put you 60.00 in the black)

It looks great and I have been amazed by everything I have bought from Blue Moon, so this is certainly on my Christmas list!

Wow, hadn't realized that the Alamo was that big… Totally worth getting the Old Glory Army Card just for that purchase!

If you have ever visted the Alamo it looks a lot smaller because most of it is missing. Only the church and the long row of buildings survive. Also the setting in down town San Antonio is disconcerting and robs the site of any historical or tactical reference. When I visited it was elbow to elbow with tourists, making it seem even tighter. It was almost three acres in extent during the seige.

This kit seems to give a really good view of the structures, and their inter relationships. I will do a full review when I get my coinage together and buy one of these!

At the scale I'm doing forces, that's merely an additional cavalry unit (plus dismounts, horseholders, and impedimentia)

I have the same museum kit pictured here, but unopened, if you're interested:

According to the museum website …

The facade is about 6" wide x 3 3/8" high; overall size is about 10" wide x 8+" deep x 3 3/8" high.

Compare with the dimensions of this other one here, made for 28mm figures:

The wooden puzzle I have seems to be half that size. I believe that makes it very close to 1/100. But I hope someone can double-check my math:

PS. Or you can build one like this:

Russ, any plans on coming out with howitzers for the Mexicans? A number of books I researched stated they had them there.
