So everyone complaints about New Wave, but what are we doing about it?

Here's the way I look at it: New Wave doesn't make miniatures, they sell them. So the way to hit New Wave is to go to the manufacturers, and pressure them to stop doing business with rip-off artists like New Wave.

New Wave sells: Call Of Cthulhu, CAV, Celtos Miniatures, Charlie Company, Chronopia, Cobalt, Confrontation (English), Dark Age, Death In The Dark, Dwarf Wars, Epicast, Eureka Miniatures, Excalibur Miniatures, Fairy Meat, Fenyrll Miniatures, Ghost Miniatures, Gear Krieg, Gladiator Wars, Grenadier Miniatures, Heavy Gear, Hero Clix (DC), Hero Clix (Marvel), Hybrid, Iron Kingdom War Machine, I-kore Paints, Ironclaw Miniatures, Jovian, Magic Challenge, New Wave Limited Edition, New Wave Showcase Edition, Pro-Paints By Reaper, RAFM Fantasy, Reaper Miniatures, Reaper Warlord Miniatures, Shadowforge Miniatures, Superfigs, Thrud the Barbarian Comic, Thugz, Vallejo Colors & Brushes, Vallejo Game Color, Vampire Wars Miniatures, VOID, Warlord (Reaper),
War Machine, Warzone.

So why don't we start an email-writing campaign, and get these manufacturers to stop doing business with slimeballs like New Wave???????

Yeah, New Wave Limited Edition would whole-heartedly support a boycott of New Wave!

Seriously, just don't buy from them. You think that because they can't get any more minis from somewhere that they are going to stop leaving them on the website and taking your money for minis they can't get? Hey, they already do that!

Do about it? Vote with your wallet.

And remember kids: Friends don't let friends buy from New Wave.

Sororitas09 Mar 2004 5:41 p.m. PST

Actually, I did that. Here are some responses I got:

Excalibur: New Wave is the only one who will distribute for us.

Shadowforge: We have had many such complaints, You can buy directly from us.

etc etc

The manufacturers don't really give a Rats rear end.

Alxbates09 Mar 2004 5:56 p.m. PST

I just don't buy from them anymore, and I reported them to my credit card company when they took 8 months to send me my miniatures after they charged my card.

That's about spent my rage.

My guess is that if the manufacturers are apathetic to a distributor dealing in bad faith maybe they are doing so well that they can afford to lose customers and profits to their competitors. Seems to me a course in Darwinism should be a requirement to run a business. Survival of the fittest, and those businesses that emphasize not only maintaining a satisfied customer base but appreciating the fact that word of mouth is the strongest form of free advertising will survive.....the rest may well go the way of the dinosaurs.

Unless New Wave does consignment from the manufacturers they don't have much say. New Wave buys wholesale from the manufacturer and has paid for the product. Don't buy from New Wave tell everyone not to buy. any one who has read this page knows the feelings of many readers and the problems ...the wheels turn slowly but they continue to turn.

From the manufactures point of view as long as new wave pays them who cares what they do to the end customer. The manufacturers in this business really can’t afford to be good corporate citizens.

If you want to hurt new wave stop buying from the manufacturers that supply them with goods. Not something likely to happen.

The best way is to boycott buying from New Wave which is what I have done. Eventually if enough people do this they will have to close up shop.

If they pay their bills to the manufacturers, is there any way a mfgr COULD refuse to sell to them?

Peredyne10 Mar 2004 9:08 a.m. PST

Sure. GW has done it in the past for no particular reason other than they were trying to get stores to buy direct from them. If I were a manufacturer, as long as the buyer paid their bills on time, I would have no qualms about selling to them.

Although I really should talk to some of these manufacturers when I see them at the GAMA show next week...

[New Wave have to be one of the worst businesses in the hobby and yet has no black mark against it here, strange.]

OK, OK, I know I need to get them written up... (They owe me money too!)

Coyote Fezian10 Mar 2004 9:33 a.m. PST

The problem is that when you buy a CAV miniatures from New Wave and they mess up your order, you are mad at New Wave, not Reaper.

So, there's no need for manufacturers to stop selling to New Wave.

That's not to say that Reaper won't stop if asked. I think this idea still has merrit. Contact the manufacturers, tell them that New Wave is allegedly screwing a tonne of customers and to please stop selling to them.

Some might, just to help the hobby. Some might not, which is their right. However, if a few do, that's less selection for New Wave to sell, less customers to allegedly rip-off.

Basically, it wouldn't hurt.

Nuke them from orbit. Its the only way to be sure.

Seriously, order direct from the manufacturers, or from other suppliers. If the manufacturers won't sell direct, tell them that they have lost your business. Write them a letter to let them have a hard copy of why. Publically state on consumer websites what you are doing.
