1. Does anyone make them for sale?

2. How would you make them yourself?

I mean Normandy bocage.

I went to the local dollar store and bought 5-packs of wooden rulers for a dollar. I then sut the rulers to 4 and 6 inch lenghts and glued strips of green scouring pad to them. Then I applied sand and gravel to the base and painted the bases with rust colored paint. I did some drybrushing to the gravel with lighter browns and tans. lastly I hot glued clump foliage to the scouring pad.

Here are some finished pics:

It took some time but Im pleased with the results. The most expensive part was the clump foliage.

I bought a bunch of plywood plaques at Wal-Mart a while back.
I just gave them to a friend who has a wood shop.

The plaques are about 6" long by 3". I asked him to cut them into lozenge shapes with 90 degree tips, so they can be butted together at any angle.

My plan is to lay down a bead of Gorilla Glue (NOT GORILLA SUPER GLUE!!)and then pour some aquarioum gravel, or cat litter on top of the bead. Go away for a few hours.
The Gorilla Glue swells up in ambient humidity and entraps the gravel. This gives the foundation to the hedgerow. It can be repeated for more height.
I intend next to glue down some Woodland Scenics foliage clumps, lichen or reindeer moss on top of the embankment.
Then, terrain and paint the plaques as usual with craft glue and Woodland Scenics flocking.

I can leave gaps in the row for scratch built gates, too.

Rulers and tongue depressors will work too, but I already have the plywood plaques.

They do look great, but there is no way to order them on that page! I clicked on How To Order and just got "Page not found". Too bad.

I'm pretty sure there's more, but here's all that I can remember, off the top of my head.

Don,
In the past I've used rubberised horsehair, cut into sections, roughly the size of the bush I want to make, which I then tease out lightly and roll in the palm of my hands to try and take the hard edges off.

I then coat them in white glue and dip them in various shades of scatter material/turf/flock, leaving it to dry. For basing I use thin strips of wooden battening (?), and after drilling holes spaced however far apart you need, I then place some toothpicks to help the hold the horsehair in place when I impale it. Before adding the horsehair I apply sand and then paint it as per usual. Once everything is dry I glue on the horsehair.

It sounds a lot more complicated than it actually is.

Chuck: Using rulers is a great idea!

Nazrat: Thanks for the heads up about the How To Order page. I have just visited the site and it appears to be working now: mbtandt.webs.com/howtoorder.htm
I hope it works now… Sorry for both the inconvenience, and the very ordinary website. I'm also sorry we don't have a shopping cart type of arrangement at this stage.

raducci: Thanks for the kind words.

For making it, I used pink styrofoam bases and reuseable furnace filter, all flocked. I used to have a tuturial on doing it on geocities, but since geocities shut down, I haven't yet transferred this and other pages over to my main web site. This battle report has an ovrall view and some close ups throughout: link
