I want to start painting up my French WWII army in 15mm soon but want opinions on anything that needs adjustment first. I've posted up a test stand of infantry on my blog: link Any suggestions? anything jump out as needing fixing? I'm mostly talking about colors and not technique, but I'll listen to all comments! |

They are very nice. Put a few touch of flowers on your stands to add spring like flavor and contrast |

I was just about to start another French fusilier company this afternoon, and had my research info in order! Check the photo (about the eighth one down) of French uniform and equipment here: link It should answer most of the questions you posted on the blog. Oh, wait: you already linked to it. Well, OK, I'd suggest double-checking some of those items. Allen |

The closest thing to the item below the backpack (with the two rectangles on it) is the gasmask bag. Assuming that, i had decided that "canvas" was probably close enough, even though the gasmask bag is more yellow. As for the square on the backpack, i had thought that maybe it was the mess kit, similar to how the german infantry had their mess kit exposed on their backs. However, i dont see a way for it to attach to the backpack. So i left that canvas as well, assuming it was just part of the backpack. |

Beautiful stuff , man! If you want to go the extra mile, take a little yellow and a little orange seperately and very very lightly drybrush the grass here and there;first with one and then with the other. It will give your bases a added dimension. Beautiful as they are though! |

By the way, I'd recommend that you post a link to your excellent Soviet assault engineer-sappers on the Flames of War Forum's Gallery section, so people can see that it *is* possible to make the amoeba-pattern camouflage look really good. Great job! Allen |

Did you see this one? Apparently i missed that picture! I'll also give the static grass drybrushing a try. |

Dear Eric, This looks excellent. I am just finishing off a painting guide for Crusader early war French. I chose Brown Violet 70.887 as the base colour. I realised that your shade is better so I will rehighlight to get closer to the pictures from 92nd. Thanks Mick |

Very nice figs, Mick! It also answers a question I'd had as well -- what color the Kepi was. Thanks for posting. |

Eric, Thanks for your help. Nick has already put a draft of the Early War French Guide on-line. The final version will be on-line in a few days. link Mick |

Those bases are just fantastic! Could you tell me what the grass is/how you do it? |
