I'm trying to make a list of all available bug miniatures these are the ones I've come up with so far. Are there any others out there? Thanks Terry Black Orc Games They produce a line of 28mm insect like creatures for the 100 Kingdoms setting. Some would make excellent supra majors in 25mm link
link Although listed in he 25mm range the Arcahnian Alien Invertebrates are excellent for majors or supra majors in 15mm, or for media in 25mm In the 15mm range they have Those! Giant Ants link and link 15mm Pelagic Dominate Mantis Stallker Bioweapons GFI In addition to the dedicated range Fantasy Ranges Giant Scorpion 25921228 There is also a Giant Beetle, but I can't find it on there site Moonfleet Miniatures link

Reaper makes a plethora of giant bugs, including beetles, scorpions, and several sizes of spider. So does WotC in their prepainted D&D range. The old Demonworld goblin range included a large number of unusual bugs as monsters or cav mounts. Mega Miniatures produces several packs including spiders, scorpions, ants, flies, and ladybugs. Heresy does hellmites and a giant spider. I suspect if you dig through the various RPG lines out there you'll find many more. Bugs are popular dungeon vermin and immune to IP lockouts. |

In addition to the models you mentioned, we also make the parasachnid alien bugs, and very soon will be releasing Vespulid waspmen with ion shotguns and rocket jumppacks which replace their wings. |

Those are some nice bugs! I need something that would work as a Plasma bug for my 6mm figs. Thanks, John |

These are technically toys not miniatures but I have used several of this companies bug figures in Giant Monster Rampage games in the past. link -Ken Radioactive Press |

In the US, Reviresco carries a nice assortment of Sci-Fi insectoid aliens, with an assortment of weapons and equipment. In size these are about 25mm tall. They are part of the extensive "Star Guard" SF military line designed by John McEwan. You can see them at link Well worth a look in my opinion, as they are very ant-like. -- Jeff |

Thanks I just ordered the some of teh Irregular bugs to see how they look. The pictures are nice. Terry |

The Reviresco queen might well work as a Queen for my Hive in 15mm |

Khurasan I can't the two figures you mentioned. Can you send a pic or links? Thanks Terry |

The Irregular 'bug hunt' bugs look like they would make cool colossal bugs for 15mm. Especially that scorpio creature. Also nice are the old Ral Partha mantis figures, but do remind me a bit of 'Son of Godzilla'! |

Terry, here are the parasachnids: picture vespulids are a coming-soon sort of thing. |

The Dreenoi from Reviresco make decent 'Selenites' too! for VSF use or regular SF use
but I'm also looking forward to the Vespulids from Khurasan. I've collected or modified etc
bugs and bug like things from several of the above named sources
(haven't done Ladybugs of War
yet!)
but even the 15mm stuff works for 28-30mm games as smaller 'infantry'..almost like 'dwarfs' do for D&D campaigns
and using 28mm+ insectoids in 15mm or smaller systems
just means they are HUGE bugs
(like in all those Japanese monster movies!!!)
How many sci-fi or horror films have invoved human-sized characters being
overwhelmed by hundreds/thousands of small bugs, from ants to locusts to 'flesh-eating beetles'
(like in the MUMMY! 8-) I think a swarm of the parasachnids even in 28mm scale games
.isn't THAT different than the control bugs or whatever from Starship Troopers
In short
having a VARIETY of 'insectoids' in different scales is always a good idea
whether you are playing fantasy or scifi
and scale with them isn't as 'defining' as with other species
like humans/humanoids
(remember the sizes/types of Selenites in 'First Men in the Moon'
for example. Carpe' Tentacle'um Sgt DWW |

There's also a "giant bug" faction in Monsterpocalypse now. Only showed up in the last set so there aren't many figs yet, but they might be useful. |

These guys look like they might make good larva for the Hive link In The Hive and the Flame the bugs don't have technology, they fight entirely with their organic weapons. This doesn't meant hey will be easy to defeat though Terry |

SGT DWW asks "How many sci-fi or horror films have invoved human-sized characters being
overwhelmed by hundreds/thousands of small bugs, from ants to locusts to 'flesh-eating beetles'
(like in the MUMMY! 8-)" We have Phase IV, an intelligence takes over ants in the desert The Naked Jungle-Heston verses Army Ants-This film is really really good The Swarm-Killer Bees (There was at least one other Killer Bee movie) The Bone Collector-A South African film about insects that can group together to form larger structures, pretty scary Damnation Alley-Large but not giant cockroaches eat one of the people. Terrible movie from a Roger Zelazny novel |

I looked through Reaper and they have a wide number of Big Bugs. these include a variety of spiders, some beetles (the giant scarab is huge, I have one of those) and some interesting fantasy cavalry mounted on beetle like creatures. Has anyone bought any of those? They look interesting but I wonder if the rider is cast on the figure I really miss the Demonword stuff. I have a couple fo packs of their beele larva looking creatures (which had originally carried goblin cavalry). I'd get another five or ten packs if I could find them Terry |

Those might work well for Supra Major Lancers in Hive Queen and Country, if they aren't too big for 15mm. For 28mm they should work perfectly for either Majors or Supra Majors. Leland, please check out Hivequeenandcountry.com and see how our projects can mesh |

In one of the fist messages I mentioned some great bugs but forgot to say theya re from khurasanminiatures.tripod.com khurasan miniatures He was running a really excellent special selling lots of bugs in three species for a very reasonable price. |

Yes Terry and people gobbled them up and they went out of stock! Will add the set back to the store when I get a restock of the pieces
. |
tsofian | 17 Dec 2011 9:00 a.m. PST |
are they supposed to gobble up people? I guess you could serve them with drawn garlic butter an a nice dry white wine! I'm glad I ordered them when I could. I was very pleased both with the castings and the value. I also picked up a couple of the tunneling machines where are really excellent resin cast kits. Just the thing for breaking into the Bugs tunnels to root them out at their source Terry |
